Some say she didn't want to play second fiddle to Madhuri which is why a lot of actresses rejected the role (mainly Juhi who was first choice). I think she was also a Sridevi fan (all the actresses back then were, unlike the ones today) so she may have felt Judaai was a better film to work in since she'd star alongside her idol. Karishma was the original casting for Judaai so she and Urmila more or less swapped roles.

If Kjo couldn't convince Adi, his best friend and peer, to scrap Anushka in RNBDJ, he definitely wouldn't be able to convince Yashji to follow his casting. Just like he couldn't convince SRK and Rohit Shetty to cast his adopted daughter in Dilwale.

And that's not even considering that whoever Yashji casts will be SRK's love interest.

I think Parineeti had the biggest chances of becoming a Yash Chopra heroine because she worked for him directly and was chosen by Pamela Chopra to honor him on his birthday, alongside all the Yash Chopra heroines. She was the only one at the tribute who was not one of his official heroines. She's the same age as Anushka so she could have matched with SRK.
