A note on Tabu

The forum does not talk about her a lot so I thought let me create a new topic and see if you guys have any takes on her.

She started her career in the early 90s. While many of her contemporaries went unnoticed, had fading careers, or briefly rose to stardom and then disappeared, Tabu persevered. She consistently delivered outstanding performances in unconventional and mainstream films, honing her acting skills. Today new talents have emerged, and the industry has seen different stars at the forefront. However, she remains a towering figure.

She has survived because of her talent alone; i don't recall any controversies around her. She lets her performances speak for themselves, exemplifying a true star driven solely by her talent.

Also, she's incredibly beautiful and her enigmatic aura only grows stronger with time. Undeniably a legend.

I watch a movie just by the name of Tabu’s being in it. I dont literally care about the story, quality of the movie etc. Just love her acting even in worst movies (by her standard) like Biwi#1 etc. Tabu is a pathetic dancer but I dont care about that too.

Maqbool, Haider, Astitva, Chandni Bar, not forgetting Maachis, Namesake - OMG, I can literally spend my entire month watching her performances.

I just know I'd have a good time watching a movie when her name is there.

She's that rare talent that comes along once, or maybe if lucky twice in a generation. She's worked in pretty much all south languages too. She did briefly get involved with Nagarjuna but just glad that better sense prevailed over her and she put it behind. That's probably the only controversy she's had.

I am not aware of her south work. Google says she debuted in 1991 in a southern movie before her debut in 1994 in bollywood.

The only south movie i have watched is Super Deluxe. Loved it but reading subtitles can be exhaustive at times.

She did quite a few movies but this was her blockbuster commercial movie, may be of her entire career even. And my least favorite of her movies.

Maqbool is such fine movie. And Tabu in Maqbool...I never get tired of seeing her in it.
