Did Rocky aur Rani underperform at the b.o.?

I loved the movie, it is one of KJO's best movies.

But did it underperform at the box office?

If yes, why? It was such a paisa vasool movie, full on entertaining and with subtle messaging interwoven into its fabric.

I know it made 150 crores and that's good, but shouldn't it have easily made more?

Definitely underperformed. I think the music let the film down.

It did but their fans here will tell you a different. It made 150 crores, there were movies in 2015 that earned more than that.

Also, again, overseas collections don’t matter

Let’s said if the total (150-160) is good enough for a spot in the years top ten list

Worldwide, it did well. NRIs loved it.

In India, it faltered and underperformed, bombing in many markets. Many parts of the movie were unrelatable to Indian audiences.

I guess it is up to the producers to see what the numbers mean for them. If the overseas numbers were enough to recoup - KJO will continue banking on international audiences. If the overseas numbers are not enough to recoup - KJO will have to tailor better to desi audiences.

It did well for what it is.

The movie should not have broken records and it has not. It is just not that good.

Without Ranveer's comedy gig, it would have been a bore fest. Then again, some of his gigs, like him wearing a bra, was distatsteful.

It should’ve made more in India than Kerala Story
