People who pick up accents post their 35/40s really hats off to them. For some of my colleagues, within 6 months of moving to Toronto, it became Thorontho. if people's accent doesn't change after a while after coming here, it's because of the ghetto mentality. On both the coasts, you have these huge desi enclaves. For all practical purposes, these guys have never left India, that's how bad it is. Of course, the accent would continue to suck under the circumstances.

I cannot understand how one's accent cannot change after living in the US for years unless you have very limited interaction with non Desis.

Accent changing is natural and not fake at all.

They even love Indian matchmaking on Netflix. Where ABCD participants are all over the place with their accents so I guess It doesn’t bother Americans that much.

As long as they are not putting on a show of fake accent, am good. PC's accent neither sounds natural nor good. It is rather jarring to hear.

With the others, they speak what comes to them naturally so even of it is not good to listen to, it doesnt appear fake

ok I know that because of covid, some people have lost their sense of smell. Maybe something similar happened with the hearing? Otherwise, I don't know what to say. Maybe get some ear-training.
