Don 3 delayed? Farhan Akhtar will act in 3 films before directing Don - Page 3

Farhan has no intentions of making Don 3 or I wonder if he's even interested in directing again, guy literally announced or floats rumors about his directorial every time there's an Excel movie.

Don 3 with Ranveer was announced because RARKPK underperformed. Actors often make their friends have big announcements, real or fake, when they need an image boost. So, yeah

When has this happened before ?

I have said before when the announcement came that I will believe Don 3 is happening only when they release the actual trailer

Farhan (= Excel Entertainment production house) does exactly that since about 10 years. It was SRK who officially denied doing a sequal as he was irritated when Farhan did it again (Fukrey 3 release), so they quickly brought Ranveer into the picture (I guess, Farhan really promised a Don 3 to Ranveer and made him make the announcement video...Ranveer has no movie-projects at the moment, as far as I know).

As far as I know (again), SRK has parted ways with Ritesh Sidwani (partner of Farhan at Excel) because of having publicly announced a Raees release date without contacting him beforehand (the infamous clash with Kaabil/Hrithik)...SRK hadn't wanted this clash as he feels close to Rakesh and Hrithik, so Ritesh made the date public on his own (although it was co-produced bei SRK's RCE)...it was a breach of trust.

SRK then tried to talk to Rakesh as Raees had already been postponed once, but Rakesh didn't want to postpone Kaabil. Adding to that: Farhan had been said to play the antagonist to Raees (Nawaz did it then) but opted out and didn't care for the movie anymore as he was more eager to do Rock On 2...it hadn't been a healthy co-operation...basically, Raees had become a RedChillies production with Excel being mainly involved financially.
