SRK fans are not downplaying her stardom. If anything they all hype her up because they also happen to be Ranbir fans and hate Deepika and hyping up Alia helps with the fan wars with Deepika fans.

Fandom politics is fascinating … but I digress.

Alia on the same level as SRK? That’s almost as ridiculous as calling her Meryl Streep. Now don’t get me wrong, I’m not saying SRK is Meryl . Not even close. But SRK even during his flop era before Pathan was a superstar. Pathan and Jawan didn’t make him superstar. They just gave him new records. I don’t even like SRK and can criticize from here to Timbuktu. But the man is a self made star who’s reached heights Alia can only dream of, not matter what KJo does.

Did he though? KJo was a brand new director who just had a famous father when he directed his first movie KKHH. SRK, and Kajol, already had DDLJ. SRK also had DTPH, Darr. He had other hits too, and yes KKHH definitely helped him. But he was an established successful name by the time KKHH happened. On top of all this the 90s and KJo of the 90s did not have the aggressive marketing culture and agenda of today.

You can take KKHH and KJo out of the equation and odds are very high that SRK would have still ended up a successful superstar. Take KJo out of Alia’s career and well, she wouldn’t have gotten SOTY at all by Kjo’s own admission. There wouldn’t have been a Highway, the aggressive PR work that followed, no snatching DZ and UP from others, no visits to SLB with Reshma Shetty to get Gangu and … you get the picture.

Again, SRK and Alia both used the same resources and people to do their dirty work. The only difference is that Alia can actually act and isn’t stuttering or doing lame hamming on screen and passing it off as acting
