Gadar 2 - The Katha Continues Is A Colossal Motion Picture

Sunday 13 August 2023 17.30 IST

Box Office India Trade Network

Gadar 2 - The Katha Continues is steamrollering the box office and it is simply a colossal motion picture and the sort which does not come from the Hindi film industry anymore. The film itself propbably does not match up to Gadar Ek Prem Katha which was a far more complete film and among the greatest films to come out of India.

There are many huge blockbusers and historic hit films in the history of Indian cinema but four stand out due to how they passed the test of time with another generation or even two or three taking to them in a big way., These films are Mother India (1957), Mughal E Azam (1960) , Sholay (1975) and Gadar Ek Prem Katha (2001).

Mother India and Mughal E Azam got their validation as they continued to see people throng to the cinemas to watch them 20-30 years post their release. It was the same case for Sholay as it remained a theatrical force into the 2000's and the insane numbers these films did post their first theatrical release are basically testimony to their greatness. Gadar Ek Prem Katha came in 2001 when things had changed and it was the time of satellite and theatrical repeat runs completely died within a year or two of its release.

No doubt that Gadar Ek Prem Katha was a huge blockbuster and very popular film on satellite but you need a little more to put it at the same level as a the other three films but what has validated its position without any shadow of doubt is that initial response to Gadar 2 - The Katha Continues. Gadar Ek Prem Katha released twenty two years back and the craze for Gadar 2 - The Katha Continues pretty much shows how the original film has passed the time and spectacularly as well to be put among the other three greats.

Gadar - Ek Prem Katha is an epic and you can easily make sequels of films like Dhoom, Golmaal, etc but making a sequel of an epic is a huge risk as you can easily just kill the legacy of the original film due to the huge expectations from the first film but here the makers have pretty much done the unthinkable and somehow lived upto the huge expecatations from the public.

Gadar 2 - The Katha Continues is basically a more massy and commercial version of the original film which plays to the gallery even more than the original film which is also unthinkable considering the huge scenes of the first film. Gadar Ek Prem Katha was a more all rounded film but it looks the masses have taken to this film in a big way also.

It was the need of the hour also as a few weeks we had a hero in a bra and in a week or we will have to see a hero as a female probably in most of the film and all this crap has to stop. The gayness and feminity of the HINDI FILM HERO which has been prevelant for some time has to go NOW and you dont have to judge by the numbers. All is needed is just to go any theatre and see the response to Gadar - The Katha Continues and a hero like Sunny Deol and it will show what the audience wants.

The media will give labels like propaganda and jingoism which are not true anyway but it will hardly matter as the public will give the reply to that. The film has come as a breath of fresh air to the film industry with maybe testosterone loaded like never seen in India before and this is actually PROGRESSIVE cinema. In another words makes cinema more stronger and bigger and above all brings the audience back in hordes.

🥳

Gadar is the biggest blockbuster ever in Punjab. Didn't you experience the same hysteria in 2001 in Punjab or is this even bigger than Gadar?

BOI probably shouldve chosen their words wiser. At the same time I cant forget the multiplex critics like Raja Sen who told Bhai fans to go die cause they patronize his movies.

Theres goodness and badness everywhere

I was wondering why this great actress doesn't have any work after the superhit success of Gadar 2. She has faded away again. I am so confused....
