I don't have but my mom has/ believe in lot of superstitions.. If i list all of them it will become a huge book.

Few of them are :

Should not sneeze on entrance/door step of the house. If I sneeze I need to sprinkle water on that.

Should not touch any cloth/bedding in the hall/parents bed room on first 3 days of mensus As she do Poojas everyday, after I touch it if she touches she can't do Pooja .. She sprinkles turmeric water on TV's remote control too if touch it in those 3 days🤣

.

We were walking on the road to Lord Shiva's Darshan in pilgrimage 2 days back, a cat came crossing the road in front of us, so she asked us to wait for a minute.. Poor cute cat.

Few years back a crow hit on my head, she made me do lot of Poojas for that bcz a crow hitting on head causes lot of dosh and apashagun.Even now She believes that it was the reason if I get any trouble now.

Should not eat/cook egg in the house on Tuesday, Friday, Saturday as she do lot of Poojas on those days.

Should not cut nails in the night time.

I don't follow any of these, so we get into tiff often😆

Cutting nails in the evening/night is lot do with our mythology. Lord Narasimha killed demon hiranyakashipu using his nails as weapon in the evening on the threshold of his palace..

@ bold Now this is hilarious😆

Keeping a knife under your pillow will drive away bad dreams.

Sweeping floors in the evening, drive away Laxmi from home.

Kala tikka, for safety from buri nazar.

Is this superstition or OCD?

And how does it work? Do you go and come back and check 11 times or keep staring at the lock till you're convinced it's 11 times worth of checking?

I touched Golden lizard in Kanchi when I was 12 years old, I heard if one touches that golden lizard apashagun kind of things don't apply after that, thank God otherwise my mom would have made me do Pooja/ritual whenever a lizard touch me but anyway lizards run away from me as I scream very loud in fear whenever I see the lizard even from two rooms away. I have huge phobia for reptiles 😆

Most of all superstitions are covered here

I don't follow them but I strongly believe that these superstitions were invented for a reason. Like the not cutting nails at night/evening was because in olden times when there was no electricity, our folks would use diyas or lanterns at night for source of light. Now these were not efficient to the point you could cut nails in the dim light. You could also hurt yourself due to lack of light. So these superstitions were invented. But people wouldn't follow if you logically rationalise. Thus reasons like bad luck were invented. Or so my dadi told me.

My family has anyway given up on me. I'm told that I'm argumentative and fiercely stubborn. So they don't bother if I follow or don't 😆😆

Every Superstition comes under OCD 😊. All the superstitions mentioned in this thread/any other superstitions come under OCD.. This is called "Magical thinking" in OCD.. Obsessed with a religion comes under OCD too. OCD is very common. Just saying for the information.😊
