I’m gonna condense all my replies to several posts into this one.

@bold: because it is very common with some conservative and misogynistic families to openly say boys can do whatever but girls have to be good little virgins till they’re married. There’s actually a print interview of Neetu Singh out there saying as much. She said she wanted Ranbir to be out there and have experiences and her daughter to be innocent.


Why Alia and not Deepika and Katrina? We can all discuss and debate for pages but we’ll never know for sure. All we can do is speculate. But what Ranbir said last year in a print interview goes along with what Atominis said a few pages back. He said Alia is someone who changes and molds herself according to his moods and what he wants.


Kapoors never wanting the women of the family to work in Bollywood is common knowledge. Karishma definitely rebelled. Around the time of her marriage Neetu’s daughter Riddhma had said it was always instilled in her that Kapoor girls don’t act, they can do anything they want but not acting. And she’s younger than Karishma. So it’s a myth that the family changed with Karishma. That being said, I don’t think Alia is actively being kept from working. I think the two big movies she’s supposed to start keep getting delayed. Meanwhile it doesn’t look like she’s signing anything else either.


Why Ranbir married Alia? Well, the fact that she was pregnant when they got married will always leave that question mark there if he would have committed otherwise 🤷🏽‍♀️.

Also Salman was quite older than her so the power dynamics were different.

Alia is definitely docile and always behaves child like. I have never seen her speak maturely. Child woman tag suits her more. I never see her take stand on anything or any issue either and I stand by the statement that she would be nowhere without spoon feeding of K Jo.

Just look at how Kat is glowing, a husband who looks at her like she is the moon. She has someone by her side exactly like she wanted.

Just look at how DP is thriving, a husband who says he's proud to be her husband, doting, gave her the freedom & the girl is flying.

So, it's never about the bad past, it's what they have now & it's the best part.

PS - if having dozens of GFs doesn't make one impure, then having half dozen BFs won't make one impure either.

RK & Alia give off weird vibes as a couple. There’s missing a level of comfort or emotional intimacy. It’s just weird to see them together

Karishma was a minor when her mother coerced her to be the breadwinner for the family after her parents' divorce. It is very much the same thing that Neetu,Sridevi, Nargis, Meena Kumari had to go through. She was not really given a choice considering that she was a very obedient child. It was awkward to see her gawky teenage self being forced into grown up female roles. At least the other actresses looked adult even though they were minors. And there were plenty of rumors flying around about her begging her mother to not force her.
