Partly why I compared Rajeev to Rajesh Khanna is also the attempt at versatility.
In tragic type or worried type roles also Rajeev reminds me a lot of Rajesh Khanna in films like Ittefaq.
Rajeev also had same subtlety that young Rajesh Khanna used to have in his initial films before he began hamming in a particular over stylised tone of dialogue delivery.
If you see old RK films you will get the drift of what I am hinting at
Rajeev is a fitter and less dramatic version of RK.
Thank God he never did excessively stylised acting nor hammed.
Rajeev deserved better opportunities IMO.
He has way more to offer than romantic roles. Has a manly personality and chiselled face.
I am aware Rajeev spoke about resemblance and comparison to Rajesh Khanna and felt flattered by it. I would say Rajeev is better than Rajesh due to more natural and less heavily stylised acting and dialogue delivery.
I would not compare Aamna to Kajol either because Aamna does not ham and is not that loud. Though I see references to good onscreen jodis are reason why SRK and Kajol are cited as comparison.
Some great points! Like I said, my Dad was a huge fan of Rajesh Khanna.😆 The only Bollywood actor he ever dared to say he loved. Otherwise he is a Hollywood Buff. And when my family used to watch 'Left Right Left' and we saw Rajeev playing Capt. Rajveer Singh Shikawat, my Dad instantly loved his portrayal of the character and when he gave KTH reruns a try, after loving Rajeev as Capt.Rajveer, when he saw him as Sujal, he screamed "He is just like Rajesh Khanna! That intensity!" And obviously, my Dad had a special place of fondness dor only one guy on iTV since then and that was/is Rajeev.😆
I haven't watched Rajesh Khanna films, but I guess I relate to your points from what I've heard at home about him. Rajesh Khanna was apparently HUGE in his days from what I was told. Women used to write love letters to him in blood🤢 He was much more famous than Amitabh etc back in his days I heard..idk. But I can relate from the sense of a similar kinda craze in fandom, that split over for Rajeev when he played Sujal.
People went bonkers. Men, women, kids, youth, celebrities (Karan Kundra, Harshad, Arjun Bijlani, Shayanti Ghosh, Prachi Desai), many youth who are active on Youtube now). My school's breaks were filled with 'Sujal Sujal Sujal'. Bus chatter was filled with 'Sujal Kashish'. Some crazy craze out there to this day.
