If that is an accurate description of Ranveer’s general behaviour, even when the cameras aren’t rolling, it does sound worrying. The rate of depression amongst comedians is above average. Some of the most famous comedians have/had very dark personal lives stemming from struggles with mental health disorders (Jim Carrey, Robin Williams, Sarah Silverman, Ruby Wax, etc.).
Ranveer obviously isn’t a comedian, however studies on depression and metal illnesses show that one of the coping mechanisms sufferers use is to go out of their way to be overtly ‘happy’ and make others happy/laugh; it’s a way of disguising their own feelings and emotions. People that are always ‘on’, kind of like how Robin Williams was, are likely to be really struggling internally. Honestly, if this is true, he’s lucky to have a partner who is clued on enough to worry for him.
He has admitted himself on one of Anupama Chopra's shows that his heart has hardened a lot through his journey in the business and that the kid who made his debut 12 yrs ago.. he doesn't recognise him anymore! That is pretty explanatory in itself. One of his close friends killed himself and that was pretty hard for Ranveer to take..guess all this play a part in his public persona along with the brand aspect of it.
