I did some Googling and found some mentions that it's a copy of a Pak movie called Sargam which was released in 1995

Only SLB can clarify which was the source - the BW movie, LW movie or the Bengali novel

BTW not sure if Sargam itself is an original or was it inspired from it's predecessors...

You read or re-read my entire post and what you got from it was that I was lecturing you? All I was doing was making observations and/or analyzing the socio-psychology of IF. You are obviously better at googling than I am because I tried and couldn’t find anything 😆 I did find a Reddit post about Na Hanyate and how the family of the author sued SLB and won their case. It’s an interesting quick read actually. According to someone in the replies SLB had acknowledged that HDDCS was based on the novel and was planning to credit the author but back tracked on his promise close to the movie’s release.

(So the Romanian guy later wrote a autobiography in which he mentioned they had sexual relationship which did not happen according to her, so she wrote Na Hanyate to counter it)

Apparently even after losing the lawsuit SLB never acknowledge the source. The Wikipage was updated only after this article came out 🤷‍♀️
