audience and market will end it whether these ppl want it or not, the main hurdle was never acceptance but access, ott , internet, cheap data, mobiles have broken that

now for movies, the other hurdle is theaters and distribution, once the market frees more and economics plays out that will also break, if theaters dont the movies audience wants to watch, they have options now and will not step out to watch any crap

why only south, even k drama has made huge inroads

and there is no regional industry, all are the same

THIS is key. When they can watch better content at home, showing the usual crap will no longer work.

I don't want there to be one movie industry though. Cultures are very diff between regions, and I'd like the differences to be celebrated, not forcibly merged.

Grouping all the 4 industries as South is a gross misrepresentation. All the four are culturally and cinematically vastly different. That said, the unique flavor of each industry including Bollywood should remain as it is with just the content, talent, writing and technology being updated. I want my Hindi films to be Hindi films not page by page pale copies of Telugu/Tamil/Kannada/Malayalam films.

That said, this trend of dubbing should gradually stop. When we were children we used to watch cinema from different industries without dubbing and our lingual skills improved subconsciously and when we finally visited those states as adults we could pick up the language (comparatively) easily. It gets rid of the inhibition of "them" and "us" between Indians.

I remember an interview of starlet where she mocked Sridevi for her idli diet and Sridevi's ask Mommy policy.

Sridevi went on to become the very first female superstar. And some later interviews and according to some anecdotes revealed the extent of her knowledge in film making.

That starlet despite family connections she's no where now.

What about Korean content that is taking the whole country by storm?

Please pay the technicians well and give them the credit that is theirs.

There are writers in small town India with stories to tell. Tell stories of small town India .

On global front now with OTT even Hollywood productions are feeling the heat and their domination is on the wane.

Small industries from European countries are coming up with content rich movies and series.

People want to see their stories being told on the screen. They don't care much for escapist fare now.

COVID has taught the importance of life and how to prioritise things. People don't go to movies for just time pass nowadays.

Movies have to be spectacularly larger than life if they want theatrical revenues.

Small conten rich movies are being watched on OTTs

They should make movies accordingly.

Tell the stories of urban India too. What the likes of YRF and KJo sell is not urban India by any stretch of the imagination. Urban India can be Raju Ban Gaya Gentleman, Gully Boy to Company and Sacred Games.

What I meant was stories about regular people which make them connect with the characters.

I am only living on Kdramas these days.

Never thought I would take the pains to multitask (reading captions) even for entertainment 🤣 But here I am😆

South and Bollywood ki ladayi me audience Koreans legaye 😆 Oppas and Unnies ke toxic beauty standards are becoming too hard to resist. (Goes back to watching Kdramas guiltily)

West has its own share of remake mania.Just look at all the Spiderman reboots. Remaking iconic films like Oceans Eleven and Ghostbusters with female leads is another of their quirks. Any successful Disney film is going to have a sequel whether necessary or not. If not a remake, then a real life reproduction.
