[FOR 90s LOVERS] Your favorite movie from the year 1998
1998 was altogether A KAJOL's year and will be remembered by this statement, both at personal & at professional front.
Not only almost all of her films were hit at the boxoffice, and at award ceremonies she was the ONLY best actress been nominated in all four ranks for a female lead, got all of the awards but also got married to her love Ajay Devgun. 1998 was indeed a golden and best year in Kajol's career so far, and will always remain on all fronts.
1998 was also the directorial debut of the much-celebrated director Karan Johar with the year's biggest hit Kuch Kuch hota hai.
Just like Kajol, 1998 proven to be a lucky year for her cousin Rani who after giving 2 flop B class films finally tasted success with KKHH and Ghulam and was dually appreciated for her screen presence & cinematic appeal, 1998 basically just started her for her super successful Bollywood innings.
1998 was a good year for Raveena as well with two hits Bade miyan chote miyan and Dule Raja with ever popular akhiyon se goli maare and kisi disco mein jaaeyn. But somehow the sheen, bubbliness and charisma which was Raveena's USP from 1991-1995 got lost. She was there in hit films but lost that x-factor, was mostly part of the comedies and it added not much to the richness of her career.
Basically, she never recovered from that professional suicide which she committed for Akshay leaving the industry after a glorious year 1994 when she was just behind Madhuri in popularity at number 2 and could easily be number one heroine shortly yet chose self-sabotage. She tasted success again in her 2nd innings post 1997, but not ever of that extent, which was expected from her after 1994, and this will always remain a sad fact for her fans.
1998 was a sad year for Madhuri, after DTPH in 1997 she once again failed to deliver any hit film just like in 1996 and it basically ended her glorious run at the boxoffice. Madhuri appeared for the very first (And most probably last time) with BIG B in an item number Makhna of BMCM. Her release WUJOOD with Nana Patekar was a beautiful movie, but totally failed at boxoffice for some strange reason.
1998 also witnessed the release of Mamta Kulkarni's ambitious project China Gate, but due to very serious issues with the maker, her role cut off mercilessly and the director made the lead female almost an extra girl. Infect Urmila got much more recognition than Mamta by dancing on just an item number Chhamma Chhamma.
1998 started the successful 2nd innings for BIG B with two diverse hits Major Saab and BMCM and he ruled it until 1995 for 7 years with amazing diverse roles and proved himself a versatile actor in his 2nd innings unlike the stereotypical angry young man of 70's.
For Salman also 1998 was a very good year with 2 hits PKTDK and KKHH with Kajol and JPKSHH with Twinkle, and also the surprise super-hit Bandhan. It was a string of hits for Salman although it has done nothing for the female lead Rambha.
1998 was a year HIT and lucky for the word PYAR with Pyar kiya toh darna kya, jub pyar kisi se hota hai and pyar toh hona hi tha. All titles with pyar and all films were super hits.
1998 also witnessed two unsuccessful but well loved and CUTE love stories Doli saja ke rakhna and Kareeb which mostly audience liked but both of the films failed ironically at boxoffice.
Bobby delivered his career's biggest hit Soldier which did 2nd highest business after KKHH and established Preity Zinta as well along with Dil Se.
1998 gave Aamir his first ever hit action film Ghulam, and also established her further as a great actor with Earth 1947 a highly critically acclaimed movie.
Satya was a highly acclaimed and hit movie of Urmila but Manoj Bajpaye stole the show from everyone.
1998 was the LAST YEAR in the industry for the unique and sizzling beauty Pooja Bhatt with ZAKHM which was proven another masterpiece after Tamanna. There cannot be a more beautiful swan song for Pooja that can bid adieu her as an actress. Zakhm was the real life story of Mahesh Bhatt, it won Ajay his first national award and Pooja Bhatt's acting was also highly appreciated.
1998 was a memorable year for Kajol, Rani, Pooja Bhatt and Karan Johar mainly, delivered some great films and boxoffice wise as well was a good year in totality.

Kuch Kuch Hota Hai
Without a doubt
I still remember how excited I was to watch it in the theatre
I stayed awake the whole night before the movie
I was a big fan of Kajol's and also SRK-Kajol chemistry
and as for the movie, it's damn cute, no matter hwat anyone says
It's so cheesy and corny and cute and romantic and funny
An intense movie with a really good plot & intention...for me the best of this year:
Dil Se
...and what a gorgeous soundtrack!

1998 was ALL THE WAY a KAJOL'S year.
Please read my first post :)
1998 is a Kajol’s year. Loved all her movies.
Voted for Kuchh kuchh hota hai. It’s my favorite. It’s typical charming emotional Bollywood. I watched it with my bestie and later we went to buy friendships bands. 😆
Pyar kiya to darna Kya is 2nd favorite.
Pyar to hona hi tha - 3rd favorite.
Jab pyar kisi se hota hai and Zakham too I liked.

Good choices
1998 was a Kajol's year without any doubt and also a PYAR year as not only the title but most films which were hit were romantic comedies.
Kajol's only flop film Dushman was also a very much acclaimed film specially for her performance.
I heard the KKHH bands were a rage back then.
I found Jub pyar kisi se hota hai way too melodramatic and sluggish though, and Twinkle was intolerable as always...lol... the story was very unique though.
My personal favorites from 1998 are Zakhm, Train to Pakistan and 1947-Earth. I always dig for such movies.

Dil Se > Satya > Soldier > Pyar To Hona Hi Tha > Zakhm.

I am not really crazy about her, but I give credit where it is due. This song was meant for Miss Rai, but Deepika looked graceful and carried it...
Who do you like the most?
