Side note: both Vishnu and Shiva are supposed to be ghar jamaais. So I'd like to know how it is a Hindu RELIGIOUS tradition. It's the patriarchal social setup all over the world.

Eh. No big deal for me.
Traditionally, women have moved to their in-law's houses after marriage. The ad is just asking people to challenge that tradition. The reason why it uses Hindu traditions is most people in India are Hindus and it will resonate with most.
That being said, how many people move in with in-laws these days? Most people start their own nuclear households after marriage. Many even are living together before marriage.
Prince Philip was probably the most famous ghar jamai. Since Elizabeth was Queen, he had to follow her to Buckingham.
Aamir has fallen out of favor

It is not religions that are threatened. It is patriarchy that feels threatened when their practices which made them feel entitled and superior, are turned on their head.
The issue is not Hindu or Muslim. The issue is why man moved to house of woman after marriage.
Indian media has always shown ghar jamai as an insult or matter of shame. To show it in positive light by top stars hurt fragile male egos.
And they are scared what if women start demanding the same or some man agrees to do same. Women already do question why only woman should leave her home after marriage. This custom challenged even in a 5 sec ad made patriarchy wet its pants.
This ad questioned the age old tradition of woman going to her husband's house after marriage. In this ad the lady needs to take care of her ailing father so her husband decides to move to her house. Religion is used as an excuse here. Basically people are unhappy because a man moves to his in-laws house. They're bringing religion as a cover-up for patriarchy inspite of the ad giving a strong reason for the decision taken by Aamir and Kaira.
In the 90s and 00s I have seen worst to worst ads but I never heard anyone objecting to these ads because people then would never care about them. Nowadays people take everything so seriously. 😆 Its just an ad. Itna bhi kya serious hona?

One thing I'd like to add here is that, in India, some tribes in Meghalya that are still Matrilineal.
Mujhe ghar jamai bana lo.
Koi Amir ladki ki.
If they had guts they would do ads which showcase evils of other religions and mind you there are plenty
Hinduism is very tolerant and mild religion unlike other religions where women are literally being murdered right now
Religion is personal matter not a social issue.
Bride jayegi groom ke ghar ye koi religious practice nahi hai ye cultural practice bhi nahi hai, ye pure world mein hota hai sabhi countries mein aur sabhi religious community mein, Kuchh tribes ko chhodkar jahan matriarchal society hoti hai
Har baat ko religion ke chashme se dekhna sahi nahi hai
I swear some people are either waiting to take offense or plain lacking in comprehension skills or both.
1. Evils of which religion are we talking about? Hinduism has 2 of the trinity living in their father in law's homes 😆.
Christianity has a bachelor God.
Even the Islamic prophet got his start with a female who appointed him as her business manager and later married him.
Patriarchy is a social evil. Those who're scared of losing their powers hide behind the facade of religion. Don't want your women to have freedom? Just say God said so.
2. They're showing a Hindu couple because Indian is majority Hindu.
3. Even if they did so deliberately, how come these protectors of religion don't seem to understand the ad is actually showing the HINDU COUPLE IN A POSITIVE LIGHT?😆
So what is the protest about exactly? Objection has to have some basis in reality, no?
Edited to add: if the same ad was shown with a Muslim couple, these same people would objecting on the basis they ONLY show Muslims in a positive light. 😆
