Hmm. The trailer didn't have as much "chutzpah" as I was expecting. But I am still curious about this project.

This closeup was breathtaking. OMG
Their timing is terrible. They should have waited till Monday when the fate of Brahmastra would have been decided one way or the other. All the "VFX" nay-saying on Youtube wants me to support the movie even further. Really? That's all we should look for on a trailer? This is not Avengers or Transformers or even Bahubali.😒
I love it! It's a Mani Ratnam film so I'm expecting good music and stunning visuals. If the reviews are good will definitely catch the movie in theatre.
Aish is looking so ethereal in the trailer.
the scale and visuals look aesthetic, execution of the script will be key now, though my sense it may meander with some high points
was disappointed with karthi, expected much better performance, maybe will be better in movie, even tamil diction was not great, very modern like
trisha looks lovely, vikram was also good, ravi less said better,
aish looks good but was dubbed by suhasini i guess who will do a good job, but I cant understand dubbing in this day and age, why cant they learn the language, she has been acting since her debut days in tamil, especially for such a stellar role one has to put the effort
when jr ntr, ramcharan and dulquer can do dubbing in 4 languages
nowadays stakes are high
have to give alia also credit, she has learnt telugu though she didnt dub (atleast her first role and it was 5 mins) but she sang well in the brahamstra function
both tel and hindi version overall dubbing is bad, they should have taken more care
anil's voice didnt suit, not sure why Big B was not approached, rana voice was good in tel, he has great diction
It’s not just Tamil, it’s an ancient Tamil spoken thousand years ago. I’m sure she would have if Mani insisted. But I guess he didn’t for a reason.the scale and visuals look aesthetic, execution of the script will be key now, though my sense it may meander with some high points

I think it looks pretty good.

It’s actually Alia so could have dubbed for herself because she barely had a couple of lines in the entire film. Plus that film was only set around a 100-150 years ago.
It doesnt matter whether the language is ancient or modern, an actor does what the role requires, that is their job
if Karthi and jayam ravi, trisha can do it then why not her, they are also speaking the same ancient tamil
if not RRR then what about baahubali
ramya krishna, prabhas and rana did dubbing, that was anicient telugu too
ramya's dialogues were the highlight
whether mani wanted it, she couldnt deliver or he didnt and she would have is our guess
audience will judge what is shown
as for alia her accent wasn't good enough though she tried, and rajamouli decided not to retain it, but atleast in her case it is her first foray unlike Aish who has been in Tamil films since her debut 20+ yrs ago
but yes for alia too many commented why not take somebody who can dub like nitya menen, sai pallavi or keerthy suresh
and anyway I would hold a jr ntr, ramya, ram charan and dulquer as examples
sai pallavi dubbed in 3 languages for gargi which is a very heavy role
dulquer didnot know a word of telugu and dubbed for heavy duty roles in mahanati and sita ramam
all actors realise this and are putting effort, samantha has dubbed in heavy roles like mahanati, rangasthalam, super deluxe and will do so in hindi too
for flowerpot roles itself its not ok, but when its once in a lifetime role you have to put the effort
if you cant dub then the director should take somebody who can, after all isnt dialogue also major part of acting, it is as much on director as the actor
dubbing was all ok 20 yrs ago, now the stakes are higher
this is not just aish but holds for all actors who cant speak for themselves
if Karthi and jayam ravi, trisha can do it then why not her, they are also speaking the same ancient tamil
They are all native Tamilians. Ash is not.
so? she is acting in a tamil film that is all matters, not being a native cannot be an excuse forever
karthi, vikram have dubbed in telugu, they are tamil for the same film
is deepika a north indian, sridevi, rekha, hema list goes on, didnt they learn and dub in hindi and urdu and what about all the bengali actresses
deepika has acted in baji rao and padmavat both period films
rekha did umrao jaan which had urdu
hema did razia sultan
none of the actors I mentioned are native to the languages they have dubbed in, they still did in tough roles and languages
kamal hassan did it long ago in multiple languages neither the roles he did or language he spoke was any easier
