I liked Gehraiyaan. It was perfect OTT material. The soundtrack was good and were DP and Siddhant. The other two were okay. I honestly do not get the hate. Were people expecting Oscar level acting and story telling from an OTT movie? 😳

Most people seem to hate because of the problematic tropes in the movie regarding Infidelity. But all that aside the movie specifically stresses and shows the repercussions of cheating. How much more does it need to be spelt out for an average audience?

for me it was too pretentious, yoga, alibaug, struggling writer all the f words constantly, it was like throwing all "intellectual cool" things without respite, like a wannabe woody allen movie

for deepika, it is the stage of your career, at this stage she should not doing something which is ok for OTT

The embarrassing thing is, (and I'm speaking on behalf of myself here, largely): that Mallika Sherawat is desperately seeking attention, perhaps, and yet we are ridiculing her but also GIVING IT TO HER lmfaooo

But on topic both did very well with what they were given, you cannot deny the rage Malika was when Murder first came out

The dialogues were a turn off, I agree. Excessive cussing. But I imagine that's how the SoBo crowd speaks (Ananya and DP's fiance in the movie). Had the misfortune of speaking to a guy from SoBo and it was unbearable. He used a dozen "likes" and "fcuks" in a single sentence. A couple more minutes and I would have wept 😆

I feel DP tried something new during the height of the pandemic and made the safe choice of releasing it on OTT because this would have def flopped had it been released theatrically. The only thing I disliked was DP going overboard with the promotions and trying to defend cheating. She went on a weird tangent trying to defend her onscreen character which was not necessary.

Deepika can never do what Mallika did in Murder, given that was her first movie, given the social context of the time that movie came out, and given the flak Mallika got for it and wore like a coat the rest of her career. Never. Ever. Period.

All of Deepu's "controversies" have been totally lame and fake. She's never taken up a real challenge like Mallika did.

I agree with Mallika. When her movie came out I was in my early teens. I sneaked out with my older male cousins to my grandpa's farm house to watch the movie without telling our mums. That was the first time nobody ordered me to close my eyes while watching a movie

Fast forward to Deepu's movie... none of my younger cousins showed interest in watching it...

Atleast Mallica got a big hit by kissing and exposing what did Deepika get - a big fat flop 😆

Yes, and although Mallika isn't a really good actor , she had that oomph to pique the audience's interest; in contrast, Deepika's performance was rather flat and underwhelming.

Deepika herself appeared to be so sceptical by the role; seemed to have taken it on merely for the sake of being a little unconventional and didn’t really fully understand it , that’s why she couldn't shake off the habit of being ‘conventional ‘not-so-wrong’ female lead & proceeded to clumsily defend infidelity .😆

Mallika did those scenes during a time when it was below the level of an A-list actress to film such movies. Or even do item numbers. And Murder was quite the sensation....definitely not the typical movie you could watch with your parents😆

On the other hand, I was plenty confused as to why they needed an intimacy coordinator for Gehraiyaan. Seemed like a waste money to hire someone for something that wasn't there😆
