Has Ranveer Singh lost his hyped stardom?

The most popular celebrity of his generation is thought to be Ranveer Singh. He is placed above Karthik, Varun, Ayushman, Tiger, and Ranbir, among others. Ranveer Singh's celebrity is highly controversial if box office success, independent of film quality, determines stardom.

83 was highly promoted, riding the wave of nostalgia, and pre-release reviews dubbed it a "cult classic." Still, no one saw the movie.

This demonstrates Ranveer's meager star power. Because of SLB, his prior films did well at the box office. Due to his fame, Ranveer hasn't had a single hit.

His most recent big office failures were JJ and 83. His recent appearance in KWK's new season was trashed by the audience. Nothing is going right for him at this moment, will he be able to bounce back?

If you must know, this is a valid observation. Ranveer has so far delivered five hits, of which 3 are SLB movies, 1 is a Rohit Shetty film, and the other is Gully Boy.

He tried on his own by doing 83 & Jayeshbhai Jordar, both are failures at bo.

I believe that the audience has evolved to a certain degree where they no longer flock to the theatres solely because of an actor; instead, they now prioritise the overall appeal of the film and make the decision.

I suppose the Khans were the last generation to experience that level of stardom where people went to theatres solely because of their presence. However, now even they have to choose their scripts carefully in order for viewers to watch it.

This is happening because movies are inexpensively available on alternative platforms as well. Audiences will pay out of pocket only if they believe they will receive value after seeing a film in a theatre. That explains why bigger-than-life movies continue to perform well at BO.

Exactly why SLB's Padmavat did very well, although Gangubai seemed to be a sleeper hit.

Ranveer needs just one movie with great mass appeal to bounce back at BO .

So no ! He hasn’t lost stardom , he’s still popular amongst the audience but he needs to chose his next movie wisely .

83 released at a difficult time still did 100Cr+ in India.

JJ opening and lifetime collection is definitely very poor but it's been same with other these kind of movies - Anek, Badhaai Do, Chandigarh Kare Aashiqui etc. I think people don't want to watch these kind of movies in theatre anymore.

Also, I didn't notice audience trashing his appearance at KWK; rather, the majority thought he was the only good thing about an otherwise dull episode in which Karan and Alia just kept yapping about Alia's ‘private moments.

His star power isn't justified by the meager 12 cr opening. This film has actually been listed in those films which have given huge losses.

Ranveer Singh is not in the same star category as Ayushman Khurana and Rajkumar. He is a bigger star than they are.

On a serious note....when one reaches the level of Ranveer.....a couple of flops don't matter.....atleast he is trying something new....I loved 83 and JJ was OK too.....I don't think the flops did any harm to his stardom......He is not a newbie....ki one flop and he will be out.
