Used to watch this film just for the song 'Lakdi ki Kathi' when I was a kid.

Recently watched the movie again and what a beautiful, sensitive movie. I loved it!!!

I think the innocence of the little boy and the dilemma of the mother were heartbreaking.

This movie still produces tears in my eyes. Its just because of the actors, simple life of those times making it believable and music.

Naseeruddin played similar character in Main Hoon Na.

Like you I watched this movie all my childhood just for the lakdi Ki kaathi song.

As I grew up and watched the movie properly, I loved it. It’s such a wonderfully made movie.
The story is amazing (based on the book Man, Woman and Child by Eric Segal), casting was spot on and all the actors have done a stupendous job.

I still watch the movie once a while and if it’s ever on TV (which it hardly is), I won’t miss it.
This movie introduced the cutest ever child actor - Jugal Hansraj. Just looking at him made you feel bad for him.
