And experienced India winning the World Cup ❤️❤️❤️ *goosebumps*😭

What a beautiful movie....so well made and every actor just nailed it.

Veeru as Kapil Dev was just brilliant....such a restrained performance👏 at times I forgot that I was watching a movie...it felt like I am watching a real match..😲

I know that this movie had nothing in it for the masses...one of the reasons it didn't do well.....but the movie in itself is wonderful...it keeps you glued to the screen...it actually takes you back to that era...the thrill, the excitement and the sadness was so real...

Deepika looked very pretty...and Veeru as Kapil Dev just took my heart...

A cricket movie in a cricket crazy country (hell we probably lost the WC thanks to IPL fatigue) about an underdog, played by Ranveer Singh had nothing in it for the masses?😳

The feeling I got while watching this is the same feeling I got while watching Raju hirani’s sanju….

Raju hirani has a formula …he has specific kind of music…specific “too good to be true” characters, narrators taking the story forward, specific kind of kiddish slapstick comedy..dialogues that sound similar…”happy” tropes like jadu ki jappi, all izz well etc …and when I saw sanju it literally felt like I was watching that formula …it was familiar, predictable, seen before and meh…

When I saw 83, I felt like I was watching chak de…under dog team who is mistreated and loses a few matches , has a few self centred / irresponsible players who are whipped into shape, a few lost matches and the final historic win with an emotional end …it had all the same beats …

It would have been a much bigger success if it came a few years prior (b4 Ms dhoni, dangal and other sports pics) …now it just felt formulaic and dated …which is sad considering chak de, dangal and all are fiction and this one had real events so it should feel more authentic than a formula …

Oh wel

I like how the director stuck to real life incidents, did not try adding his own masala or melodrama or fictitious jingoism/heroism. I also loved how he did not turn this film into a biography or a tribute to Kapil Dev. Every character's contribution was acknowledged, every player was given their due.

Unfortunately when you are so true to the events, it does start resembling a documentary and thats where 83 failed as far as the box office is concerned. Wonderful effort by Kabir Khan but like you said, not for the masses.

Okay but is it good enough to motivate me to clean my apartment if I put it on as a background watch, though?

Just play this song in the background. It will motivate you to attack your apartment with renewed vengeance.

Nope! You will get caught up in the movie and your task will get further delayed. How do I know this? Well! 😆

Actually this is what I was thinking until I had not seen this movie....I also said the same thing that how is this even possible.😆...but after I watched it .....I felt it ....that this movie didn't cater to the masses.....it was for a very niche audience.....the ones who were ready to shell out the money for an even that had already happened.....there is a difference between a actual match where the results are unknown vs a replay of an old match.....it is a beautiful movie anyways.

Why this movie did not work on BO is something I will never understand..it’s not just a stale movie about an event that has already happened..it has all the emotions that can make the viewer feel happy, emotional, ecstatic and even a low-key thrill at some points..Everyone who has watched the movie has only good things to say about it ..So the word of mouth was also positive..anyway I just have to say the casting and the amalgamation of real life moments in the movie is just fantastic..also I loved how they have casted even the West Indians..it all feels so real
