No

Never like a movie where every issue conflict for 2 hours is resolved into a single award bait monologue

Good movie until they showed the husband turning over a new leaf in the end.. men like him don't change.. seemed a bit idealistic to see him quit his job and try to be a better person.

Never watched this movie but whatever I've seen and heard, it wasn't just a slap and realistically it can never be.

If your spouse is slapping you then it's never just a weak moment or a bad day. There must be other things wrong with the person or with the relationship.

Is divorce the only solution for it? Unlike what the movie wants to say, maybe not. Real life shouldn't be painted as black and white. Women shouldn't be judged if they want to leave their husband based on one slap, but they shouldn't be judged even if they don't. Is it a compromise? Probably yes.

But I've always found this question ridiculous that could he have slapped his parents if they were in place of his wife? Like no duh! You can't compare your spouse with your parents. Any regular person would keep their parents on a higher pedestal than the spouse. Not just men but even women.

You can shout at your partner, say a thousand hurtful things. Can you do the same thing with your parents? Most likely not! Husband-wife relationship is considered a relationship of equals at best unlike parent and child.

I’ve never watched it but it’s been on my list. A thappad is never just a thappad. There’s a lot leading up to it. Ask any domestic violence survivor. One of my favorite quotes from one of my favorite shows Maid is, “before they bite, they bark, before they hit you, they hit near you”. Long time ago, I escaped when the first event happened. I totally empathize with the premise of this movie. Will need to check it out soon when it’s not so triggering

Well it happens..

As such he isn't shown to be a bad guy..he is an over ambitious guy who is so engrossed in climbing up the ladder that he disregards his wife and her contributions. Takes her for granted and doesn't pay heed to her emotions when she is hurting.

It doesn't occur to him that he is hurting her..feels it's normal. That's what he has seen throughout his life and that's the environment he is brought up in.

When he realizes his mistake it changes him. Very much possible

The only thing I did not like in this movie was Tapsi's acting.

Otherwise it was a good one. Though they could have set a better pace of story telling, yet Amrita's decision was something I agree with. I think she knew it was just not that Thappad, it was the amount of adjustments and compromises , she was doing on her part, for that marriage to work. There are two people in a marriage and she realized that the majority of this marriage was about him. I guess the Thappad was a trigger to her realization of what's her worth in that marriage, her self worth.

Yeah!

I remember my reaction when I watched it the first time. I was so so affected that I had made a topic too here 😅!

Then, slowly realised everything is not pure black and white; I shouldn't be that much affected...
