Unnecessary usage of abusive language n slangs in webseries and OTT movies..m sure m not the only one who is bothered by this.

As a mother I m very much concerned abt this issue..The story can move ahead perfectly well without inserting abuses, slangs and f word..but it's almost like they have some sort of compulsion..someone is literally forcing them to litter the dialogues with it.

What r we trying to do? Normalize this language for our young gen? On one hand we want them to learn to respect women and then show a series full of mother/sister abuses. I have seen teens using a highly respected word 'mom' used out of context.

Pls suggest what we as audience can do. Coz we have already seen the two faced hypocrisy of the Two India gangs of entertainment industry.. on one hand they would cry about rape culture in India..on the other hand if any govt body imposes regulations on OTTs they would cry in the name of freedom of expression..inse to kuch ummed hi nahi hai.

U, UA, A guidelines and disclaimers r fine..but even 18-19 years is n impressionable age..they r the one more influenced by OTTs and less likely to listen to elders...adults but yet vulnerable.

Unsubscribing is n option but that's n escape not a solution..any other way?

I also cringe at the excess use of the F word in movies. It’s so unnecessary. Maybe you can avoid watching these type of films when your kids are around. That might help lessen the exposure. Better yet, encourage/entice them to watch the good old 90s films. I’ll be doing that with my future kids. Their first word after Mama and Dada will be SRK. 🤗😂

It's the real and heartland of India, as harsh as it may sound. That's the language used. The slums, suburban, rural folks, cops, politicians, goons, rowdies, showbiz people use such abusive language. It's even worse than shown in these webseries.

The F word is pretty common among the college students, even school students, filthy rich, even rich, high society people, and this has been prevalent since a long time now.

The OTT, movies, books, paintings, and art in general shows us the mirror of the society we live in and the culture we practice.

We don't watch webseries with kids..usuallystart once they sleep..didn't even watch Rocket boys with them..coz we r always vary of language used on OTT..

But in general what can we do..we have youth watching..and even acting in them. If u saw Bombay Begum u would understand what I m saying..it was cringe..couldn't go beyond 2nd epi.

And Fame Game..that series doesn't need n f word at all..but used so casually.

It's not just about our kids..its about society in general..should we accept n promote this culture?

Rural India uses F word?

M living n urban life.. I atleast haven't seen people using this language in real . It's only off late that this is becoming visible..and that too more on OTT and less in real life so far..but won't take long in catching up.

And that's what I m asking..should it be so common? And then r we in a position to preach respecting women?

No the rural folk use the local and regional cuss words, that's shown in the series.

Only families don't use abusive words, especially parents along with kids and their get togethers. Maybe that's your friend circle.

The youth today can't talk without cussing.

I don't think cussing among friends or used casually or for fun is bad. Everyone on this forum uses the F word so casually.

Even if cussing is an outlet of anger, let it be. I don't think it's harming anyone. It's better to cuss someone and get over your inner rage, dark side, demons than commiting a murder or rape. It is an outlet or expression for one's frustrations in life.

I simply ignore these shows and never watch them. Kaafir and Asur are the only Hindi web series I have watched.

Teens saying 'your mom' to eachother..it's n outlet of anger? And what about their teachers or classmates who feel uncomfortable hearing this? Just ignore?

And see..using casually among friends is a different thing..people like me may not approve of that but of course they won't approve of our disapproval either..

But unnecessary and forced usage on a public platform can be controlled?

Like..did Gehraiyaan need it in every other sentence?

So that's the only way out?

Like Netflix is making losses in India and isn't churning out great Indian content..but it's churning factory is still going on at top speed.

Prime used to have good content..that's going down the same path..only Disney hotstar has some decent watches

But why will your children be watching content that's not made for them? Every OTT platform has parental control, the solution is right there in the remote in your hands. Plus nowadays every OTT show has a warning on top left at the begining of every episode clearly mentioning if it has abusive language and nudity or not. So one can very well be prepared before watching the show.

The onus on such things is frankly on the parents, not on the makers since they know they are making such shows for adults.
