I am sure normal cinema goers know that these movies are or not some masterpiece they know in your words "difference between in ravi varma and art students drawing" but THEY MIGHT STILL PREFER NOTE THE WORD "PREFER" to attend their college fest where they will be present with fellow art student s work then go watch ravi varma s exhibition BECAUSE THAT S HOW THEY CHOOSE TO SPEND THEIR FREE TIME. I am sure if you search a bit you would find various bollywood movies of your taste that were hits sooryavanshi is not the only type of film bollywood makes

My dearest, maybe you need to watch the movies I mentioned and then hopefully you might understand what is being said and in what context.

So are you claiming they understand both types of movies and prefer the masala ones? Somehow, I doubt that. Closing eyes to reality doesn't make it go away.

And note: I didn't claim Bollywood only makes Sooryavanshi type movies. I said by a huge percentage, those are the types of movies which Bollywood audience watches. You're saying it's an informed choice, not an instinctive one. I am going to disagree vehemently.

Reality? what reality exactly?

I though piku, andhadhun, bhadhaai ho, wake up sid, raazi. talvaar etc are great movies and bollywood audience think too because all these movies have been commericially successful

and they also watch movies like sooryvanshi, ready, bodyguard etc . So we watch both

There is a diff between saying something about a society as a whole and making a claim about every individual in a society.

NOTE: I didn't say everyone who watches Bollywood is immature in their appreciation of films. That would be incredibly silly.

And I didn't say they are immature as humans. But as film-watchers, Bollywood audience (as a group) is definitely immature.

By the criteria of generalization used by you, I can't say India has a long way to go in its treatment of LGBTQ community.

Hum to bhai jaise haa waise rehenge 😆

i am sure i will love all these movies but that will still not make me agree with notion that "bollywood audience are not mature enough "

No they are not art is subjective

Again lets not bring serious societal issues and compare it with "how a person chooses to spend his time" because by doing that you are just trivializing these serious matters

OK, let me know how many nuanced Bollywood movies have become hits as opposed to the fluff. I could prob point out one Kahaani, but that was a fairly straightforward mystery thriller. Maybe a Badla. Again little nuance. Most hits from Bollywood ARE lacking in logic and nuance. Did an Udaan become a hit? Did a Masaan? Lunchbox got most of its money from overseas. Gangs of Wasseypur?

The numbers speak for themselves.

There are societal characteristics which develop over time. If you're going to claim Afghanistan is not backward in terms of women's rights because it is generalization, you would be both right and wrong. Yes, I would be generalizing, and yes, I would be right in generalizing.

Bollywood audience is of course not Afghanistan. But they marvel at bling and noise and give nuance a wide berth.

Yes, south movies produce masala films. But south movies also produce incredibly nuanced movies, AND the audience makes them hits.

I am sorry you're offended, but I cannot apologize for stating a fact. Not only me, someone like Anil Kapoor has said it. Multiple reviewers have said it.

As for art being subjective... of course it is. But as my response to you at the time was: there is difference between a student's painting and a Ravi Varma masterpiece.

Irony!Coming from a fan of an actor who in his entire career has only made fluff.

I'm convinced SRK spurned you at some point. 😆 Why else would you be so obsessed with him?
