On the other hand, atrocities committed by Islamic radicals always get downplayed by the left-leaning media and liberals.

Lol not true at all. In fact bad shit done by extremist Hindus is always downplayed and excused. Its also not just fringe elements when major BJP politicians, religious Hindu leaders etc. spread hate against Muslims openly.

Show me liberals or the media somehow downplaying Muslim terrorism, never heard about that. Yeah they may not constantly obsess over things that happened centuries ago but that's about it.

Also, Indian Muslims have nothing to do with invaders, but the school textbooks tend to glorify them and downplay their atrocities, largely as an attempt to appease Muslims and create a false, pro-Islamic invader narrative. This was largely started during Congress rule and supported by the Left intelligentsia.

I have studied NCERT books in school that are standard all across and really I haven’t seen any text glorifying them.

I have no idea where this is coming from 🤦🏼‍♀️

I don’t think everyone who dislikes right wing supports congress. Most of them don’t.. but the right wing is too much in your face hate politics is which has become annoying now.

The media also was always controlled by political parties but news channels like republic are way too much.. it’s become excessive now. No wonder its backfiring.

I agree with you on appeasement of Muslims which started from independence itself. And I agree Islamic terrorism around the world gets downplayed by liberals.

And I agree BJP won't dare follow the diktats of the fringe elements precisely because the majority of Hindus would revolt. I disagree with the characterization of BJP supporters as dangerous. They're voters, desperate for a decent government.

But...

Congress is still present and would return to same policies if they win. So it makes sense to bring them into a discussion. They sucked, they were corrupt and practically destroyed the country. They're the reason BJP is now in power. They're the reason a thug party like the BJP stays in power. Yeah, they're barely a step up from Taliban. The complete blackout of Kashmir is evidence. That's not being done by fringe elelements. It is very much anti democratic.

Bringing in the Mughals and their atrocities into a discussion about current intolerance against successful Muslims, esp someone secular in his public life like SRK, reeks of bigotry. It practically screams You Invader, You! Because there are no Mughals now to deal with. Only Muslims of Indian origin.

There was this huge campaign to downplay the destruction of temples after 1992 Babri incident. Richard Eaton's texts were introduced where literally every destruction of a temple was explained away painstakingly.

Historians like RS Sharma, Romila Thapar, DN Jha etc. were all part if the campaign which sought to discredit the findings of the ASI excavation.

At the school level, they were whitewashed a lot, if not glorified.
