Nah, the ones with huge number of fans don't. Those who have created a perception of a biggie but they only have 80 active fans on the internet are propped by PR. They have to create or maintain the perception. Mostly the industry kids FCs are PR-run.
Most of the active fans who fight for the celebs day and night.... especially male actor fans...are in touch with the PR people. Looking at some IDs I suspect they get something in return...maybe autographs, access to the celebs money. This is with the fans....so I'm sure these self proclaimed critics/journalists on twitter are definitely getting money in return.
