Member Topic: Why men do not talk about their problems ?

Men are shamed when they're too emotional unless they're making weird sounds at a newborn baby or when they're pining for an ex. And they aren't allowed to be helpless even when they are. Making them bottle things up isn't helping anyone.

I do not understand who made this outdated rule that men cannot cry

Men have been conditioned from a young age that they're supposed to be tough. They are told that crying is a sign of weakness and boys don't cry. Even women have been conditioned to believe that emotional men or men who cry are not attractive.

I think all humans need avenues for healthy expression of emotions. It is alright to be vulnerable and cry.

Stoic and walled-up people have years of repressed emotions. Once you open them up - you open up a floodgate that can drown you in a rush of emotions held behind over the years.
