They often do business. Like the couple who played Anurag's sister and jija in Kasauti are now running their own successful business. Ronit Roy has his own security agency and provides security to top stars like Aamir Khan through his agency.

They make investments and buy properties.

Some become social media influencers or do plays on stage or become anchors for non fiction shows. Like Sanjeevani actress Gurdeep Kohli is hosting cookery show on Food Food channel. Jay Bhanushali, Ritwik Dhanjani are also reality TV hosts and Jay also used to post on Tik Tok.

Some have begun to do web series. Some do paid social media posts or campaigns for political parties. Like Mukesh Khanna of Shaktimaan has his own YouTube channel where he mostly promotes ideology of a party he supports and often talks about his own work and colleagues side by side.

Some join politics full time like Roopa Ganguly of Mahabharat and Smriti Irani of Kyunki saas bhi kabhi bahu thi.

Some start their own acting schools like Pawan Shankar, Mukesh Khanna and Pankaj Dheer who often employ their former co stars and colleagues also as trainers and teachers at their acting schools.

Some do regional cinema or regional TV. Karan Mehra of Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata hai is nowadays playing male lead in a Punjabi serial for eg. Shweta Tiwari has done Bhojpuri films opposite stars like Ravi Kissen.

Some just do reality shows or episodics in shows like Savdhan India and Crime Patrol. Or produce, write and act in short films.

Some become part of CINTAA, ITA, or jury at TV awards or do public service campaigns for state and central govt or documentaries or later launch own production house. Some become trainers at acting academies or grooming classes or film/TV schools.

Some have become associated with spiritual orgs like Art of Living and do events, lectures, seminars for them. Especially mytho stars like Arun Govil, Nitish Bhardwaj have done a lot of such discourses for babas in real life.

TV actors also earn through stuff like attending parties for a fee, inaugurating stores or endorsing local brands, attending New Year, Ganpati, Navratri celebrations or signing up for those apps which provide chance to commoners to speak to their fav celeb for a fee or get birthday/anniversary wish from their fav celeb or attend functions at schools and colleges as chief guest for a fee.

They have lot of options nowadays and do not necessarily rot penniless the way TV, theatre, music stars used to earlier once they stopped getting work.

You listed everything so well. Youtube is a good options too. Everyone bashes big boss winners for not getting big breaks. I have seen few vlogs of last year winner Rubina recently. They are actually nice. She is popular too. So there's options for everyone. However, it might be depressive for few of them to be not popular anymore.

Idk..some kind of business , bhatije ke naam pe restaurant, mutual funds , amway pyramid scheme, gambling..onlyfans ...who knows.

Cezanne was alright as Anurag but I don't think he's capable of doing much else. Not exactly a great actor and not handsome enough to do ads.( but I think he did some ) He's too seedha saadha to attract other roles.

Yes. Some of them do sound bitter and desperate to promote themselves or remind people of their past glory.

Mukesh Khanna and Gufi Paintal do rant about how senior actors are treated badly, denied their due, do not get work that matches their experience and status and they keep reminding or reviving of past glories of their Mahabharat and Shaktimaan days, take heart in comments of fans from old days and get irritated when new, younger users disagree with them or accuse them of self promotion or being repetitive in discussing their old work.

I did feel bad for Shweta Tiwari seeing her in Bigg Boss and some Bhojpuri film. Or former top TV stars like Renuka Shahane only doing Crime Patrol episodics or short films now and posting about Surabhi, HAHK in nostalgic posts on FB.

Some of them disappear entirely the way Purbi Joshi left India after marriage and is cut off from showbiz. I miss her amazing comic timing. She could have got lot of work now.

Niki Aneja keeps posting her pics on FB but has few likes. Not many recognise her now. Otherwise she was face of Zee TV serials till 2002.

The problem is that only character becomes famous on TV. Not the actor. Once fav serials are over, audience rarely watches the actor again. No show of Smriti Irani succeeded the way saas bhi kabhi bahu thi did. She may have been playing MIL or granny on TV now if she had not moved to politics.

Sakshi Tanwar has done lot of shows and even BALH succeeded but she never got mass popularity again the way she got as Parvati in KGGK.

Simone Singh was a craze as Heena, became an anchor and emcee later. Succeeded only after 13 years again as vamp in another serial but is forgotten again after that serial ended and is now just doing web series.

I commend actors for handling vagaries of this profession and managing their mental health. It must definitely hurt to be forgotten or not as popular later or your other characters not becoming that famous or people remembering your screen name but not your real name.

It hurts more when your other ventures do not succeed. Anuj Saxena organises award shows now and runs an event management company which has succeeded more than his stint as male lead of Ekta's serial Kusum.

I am sure he does not miss his acting days now. But his co co star Nausheen never got any good serial after that and her dreams to enter Bollywood also fizzled out.

I feel there is a reason why some jobless TV stars turn to flesh trade or shady stuff like Kundra's app, onlyfans or suffer from mental health issues or take extreme steps like Pratyusha did or simply leave showbiz and get married, go abroad or get into spirituality.
