There's nothing wrong 😆 Not every iconic role has to be serious or tragic. Otherwise even in Hollywood, why would Julia Roberts in Pretty Woman, Alicia Silverstone in Clueless, Anne Hathaway in The Princess Diaries and Devil Wears Prada be considered as benchmark roles 😆

Everyone craves for escapism. That's why I watch Dynasty 😆

Not benchmark of acting, but benchmark of performance, if you catch my drift ;)

It's not some great acting, but it's certainly iconic, memorable and eye-catching, that you have people still talking about her after 20 years (even Geet isn't as popular, trust me).

Also ... while Poo isn't exactly a great performance, I'd argue that one doesn't need to play ultra-serious roles to showcase good acting. One doesn't need to play a pros or blind girl or autistic person to demonstrate great acting chops. One can play ordinary roles, loud ott roles and still showcase good acting.

FUNNY THING: Poo wasn't as popular when K3G came out as it has become today. Yeah people thought it's a funny character but nothing special. Kajol and Jaya won the awards, Kareena got nothing. But 20 years later, Poo seemed to have gained a cult following of her own.

^^ Geet is the better written and acted role, but JWM wasn't that big a hit (wasn't even in the top 10 grossers of the year).while K3G is a bigger hit. Plus Poo is a lot more ... entertaining.

It was supposed to be just a fun character and Kareena nailed it obviously,people may remember it to have a good laugh and share memes but I think that's about it, calling it a benchmark or the best thing ever is taking it a bit too far 😆 Though I would say it's still one of the most memorable characters because it was super entertaining in its own way.

It was a benchmark for "how to introduce a self-obsessed, popular hot girl of a non-existent college with a morning ritual that involves an extensive spa treatment, face masks, trying on a bunch of skimpy dresses till there's barely anything left, how to fall in love with your reflection in the mirror like Narcissus, and dial up the theatrics and ham so much that people can't forget you even if they tried."

I thought it was Geet from JWM which was considered iconic and also copied in TV serials later.

Never heard of Poo being iconic or having cult following.

Online I have seen Poo being referred to as more of a joke and caricature. Poo was every stereotype about spoilt rich bratty, haughty girls captured in one character.

I think people refer to her as a meme or joke or maybe found that character funny and fancy in an otherwise heavy weight drama film like K3G.

Only materialistic, show offs and snooty types will admire Poo or aspire to be like her or admire her nakhre and narcissism.

Honestly I have never seen anyone praise or relate to or aspire to be like Poo in real life.

I have seen more admirers of JWM in real life than Poo.
