Dangal had newbie girls and so did Ghajini. Ghajini is still a sizeable role for heroine.
But both films are still out and out an Aamir Khan show.
Dangal is more about the father fulfilling dreams through his daughter and not daughters themselves.
Ghajini is also more about man avenging murder of his GF.
The only Aamir films with good roles for women have been his earlier work like QSQT, HHRPK, Raja Hindustani, Dil, Dil Hai ki Manta Nahi, Akele Hum Akele Tum, Ishq, Mann, Rangeela, Earth. Even the crap Mela had sizeable role for actress.
From Lagaan, Aamir has mostly done films where heroine has not much to do or there is no heroine at all or she is replaceable (hence less known actors to play Sue in RDB, no heroine in TZP, no big name opposite him in Dangal). Fanaa, Talaash and Ghajini are his only films in 2000s and 2010s where heroine has something to do. Maybe add PK somewhat with Anushka having some role.
In long run this strategy has only helped him as he does not depend on so called jodi with any co star and has shown he can give hits in other characters or stories like TZP. It will help him manage roles and stories as he gets older.
