There was a movie Ek Chadar Maili Si based on an award winning novel...

It dealt with the issue of forced marriage to your sibling’s spouse, only it was the guy being forced to sacrifice his love and marry his much older and recently widowed sister-in-law...

Only humans star in the movie, dogs don’t have prominent role, so the wedding does takes place as there’s no one with common sense to stop it...

Hema Malini and Rishi Kapoor did a great job in the movie

He and his family can look after a child. hire a nanny if necessary. And find love again. In the meantime Nisha and Prem can still help out

He could have just,

hired a nanny and also with family's support (since he had one), he could have just tried and balanced work commitments and his responsibilities of being a single father.

Thats what working mothers do.

You have to look at the time the movie was made as well. We are judging everything with today's lenses which is fine but you cannot expect yesterday to match with today.

The movie was inspired from nadiya ke par so they have followed the same plot.

Also, Nisha was never forced. This was a misunderstanding which was mainly created to add a few more songs in the movie. All the characters sympathised and did not object to Nisha marrying Prem.

The movie was quite good considering it was made in the 90s. Compared to other movies, this was quite refreshing. No fight scenes, no attempted rape scene etc.

Nanny and step mother can take care of kid but there would be no emotions from her side.

A sister loves her niece or nephew naturally and when the sister is no more than she will try to compensate more.

she will always try to make the child feel complete and never miss her mom.

Also if Nisha was not in love with prem I don't think she would have any problem in marrying rajesh.Because she too would be attached with her nephew.

Also in such situation ppl feel that sister who is no more will be pained to see her child in pain. So they r more emotional towards such children.

When I was teenage I saw bewafa movie where kareena does same. And I said to my mom that which modern girl will do so. My mom said when u will grow up than u will understand how women get attached to such children left orphaned by their sibling. And now I actually can understand.

Honestly, when I first watched the movie, the idea that a girl can be expected to marry her widowed brother-in-law was a bit of a culture shock for me. I didn't even realise that this could be an option in some families.

It's really a stupid decision. And unfair to the girl that she is expected to be a replacement for her dead sister to take care of the child. Even if Nisha wasn't in love with Prem, she would have had her own expectations and desires for a marriage, which she was being expected to give up just to look after a child.
