It's actually kind of funny. When we go vacationing abroad, people automatically assume I'm from the US, until I open my mouth. One time, a waiter at a restaurant said (after I placed my order) "Ah Canadian". 😆 I asked him later how he knew. He said, "You said please and thank you and you have a nice tone. 90% of Americans I serve don't even know those basics." It's a sad stereotype though. Because not all Americans are mean and not all Canadians are nice. But it's just assumed as such.
