Contrary to popular opinion, I feel they have shown the French in a balanced light. French ARE rather mean in general, those stereotypes are not just stereotypes, they are snobbish and I have experienced that first-hand. They are aesthetically inclined and have high standards in art, fashion and food. They are promiscuous. They are also cultivated, sophisticated and well-read. So I never felt they went overboard with the depiction.

Maybe what you are talking about is more true about parisians specifically, than the French in general. I held the same opinion as you when i visited Paris, but I have had 3-4 French roommates after that - and they were from proper france and not French canada(lyon, Versailles, etc). They where some of the coolest and nicest folks I have come across. Very likable and down to earth. Definitely elitist and over sophisticated

Even the French in Paris were as snobbish as any regular American, british citizen when they encounter a foreign national.

Yes i loved it, it was simple yet beautiful ❤️ the problem of not knowing French language was beautifully portray...even I had the same problem when i was in Paris to study Art.

I have and I found her annoying .... I can't pinpoint why. 🤔 French snobbiness and disdain towards non-French speakers was on point too but like some people mentioned here, it could just be a Paris thing. Some of my friends experienced the same when they were there.

I watched it. It goes pretty well till ep-7/8, but didn't like the finale much. Seemed a bit over exaggerated and unnatural.

Waiting for season 2 since I liked the show in general though.

Hated it. Couldn't even finish the first episode. Emily was one of the most annoying, empty and overbearing protagonists I had seen in recent TV.

yes loved the first few episodes, overall a feel good drama

I watched it as a lighthearted show but it did seem really offensive to the french as they are considered to be the inventors of fashion industry. Also emily's outfits were hideous. Gossip girl had much much better outfits than this.

I enjoyed the supporting actors (especially her friends) more than the leads. Hated both of the leads. I mean the french guy is cute and all but the guy is so sick that he would cheat on Camille. Also emily is annoying AF.

I found the show a bit boring sometimes but the guys Emily hooked up with were hot except for the old one. Some of her outfits were really good like the yellow dress but others were horrible mismatched. However Lily is so beautiful that she could wear a potato sack and still look good

I was suprised that a show like this was made in this day since it reminds me of the shows back in the day

Except Emily's wardrobe, nothing is worth hyping 🥴

Emily was quite promiscuous with her relationships though
