Did anyone else feel Badlapur is an incredibly twisted film?

Yeah, it's technically slick and has a powerful screenplay. But the story is nothing great. There aren't that many twists and turns either.

Also, the incredibly twisted nature of the movie left me feeling a bit underwhelmed. For example this scene:

I don't mind 'twisted' but still this movie is highly overrated IMO. Very boring and bland...and not at all engaging, thrilling or gripping 🥱

Not twisted enough for me. I was left underwhelmed with the in your face message in the end

Badlapur is not Andhadhun or Race where the twists are the focus. It is a study on the nature of revenge and how the bitterness and obsession twists even the best of people into a caricature of their previous selves over the years. It is also an ode to the nature of grief. Some people can't let it go and move forward. It also questions who's the hero and who's the villain? It is also about second chances and redemption. Who deserves it? Can you get one without the another? In the movie Nawazuddin gets redemption while Varun gets a second chance. I was not expecting that kind of powerful performance from a relative newcomer like Varun Dhawan.

It was a great movie on human psychology, and how action defines people and not the other way round.

A good guy is no longer a good guy, and a bad guy is no longer a bad guy. It is all about interpretation.
