Why was Deepika so lazy between 2016-2020?

So many times she’s teased stuff and it rarely came thru. Then had weird looks and said she can’t talk about it

Like at a buffet and it’s empty

DPad delivered blockbuster movies back to back within a short span of time, and it was enough to shoot her to superstardom and keep the fires of her career burning for a while.

There's also the undeniable law of diminishing returns at play. Every successful star reaches a point in their career where any further exposure would yield progressively diminishing output. That's when they need to tone it down and make themselves scarce so that the audience can "miss" them. DPad got married around then and took it easy cuz she could afford to. Most of the people like to accrue maximum dividends with minimal effort anyway.

Because she was bitten by Hollywood bug? 🤡

She's been working since 2005/6 continuously. Not a crime to take a break 😆

I think she wanted to prevent overexposure after reaching her pinnacle so that no one would get bored of her. The result is her signing A List films back to back.

At the same time she could focus on her private life. Public figures seldom get this chance.

She delivered a Hit Padmavat, a film that many may not remember had a lot of issues, one being sabotage of the sets, and very real threats, as well as conflicts and banning in some places, yet they managed thru all of that having a bigger budget than expected due to the vandalism, they still managed a money making hit (funny the gov never offered her privileged security even though the threats were very real)

She lived thru a fire in her building.

Managed her Foundation an made presentations

Went to Cannes and The Met events were she showed the world the beauty of India and the fact that Indians are whatever they want to be by choice not force and females have no limitations and while sarees are glorious, they can also wear other couture. Arranged by the Canes Festival committee there are awards given to the paparazzi every day and overall for their work and one of DP in that fuchsia gown won.

She prepared for Chaapaak a film she knew would be difficult due to it's theme, and that it would have slim chances of being a hit, but the theme needs exposure.

She continued working on contract events/shoots for product endorsements.

She took care of her private business ventures and affairs.

And ...Also planned a destination wedding and prepared a lot for it, something that showed because all details were perfect and the wedding beautiful. Anyone who has ever had a large wedding can tell you there are a million details.

(In fact some people cannot even attend a court summons and have to have it extended and they were not even the person getting married!)

She also planned a celebration at home after the wedding. A big one that took planning and amazing outfits for the bride and groom plus amenities for the guests.

And I am sure she tried to settle into life as a new wife, and maybe took a little time to enjoy being a newly wed.

She kept her self and her body in perfect shape. Even when she enjoyed a delicious Death by Chocolate moment she did not gain an ounce....

All of it takes work....a lot of it

Just because she does not give her self-props or publishes ever morning jog wearing fake lashes and full make-up or every temple-hospital etc.. that she visits does not mean she is not doing things, she just does not want you to know, and be all up in her business.... I don't blame her I would not either.

So calling her lazy without knowing or considering all of the afore mentioned is over reaching on the hypocrisy and just plain ludicrous

Well....considering she ditched BW at the peak of her career to 'act' in a C-grade actioner opposite an equally C-grade Hollywood actor....you can draw your own conclusions

Nothing wrong in exploring opportunities even if they ae not promising. Can't be regretting in late 60s for the could have beens.

You are forgetting that XXX movie 😆 Imo she wasted a lot of time pursuing Hollywood dreams which didn't materialize. She was at peak in 2015. Instead of capitalizing on that & solidifying her position as the numero uno in BW she decided to go after HW where she had to start from scratch. That was a bad move. In the 2016 - 2018 period she was busy trying to manage both Padmavat & her HW dreams side by side. With XXX's failure she got a reality check. Took a break, got married, enjoyed a bit of family time & tried something new with Chapaak. But with her attention hungry PR stunts messed that up too & so now she is back in the business she can do. Commercial BW movies. If a couple of the ones she is working on do good, she will somewhat recover the position she lost in the 5 years you mentioned.

She was not exactly lazy, she just made some terribly wrong choices.
