Because she is worth it and will continue to get more work as well as continue peripheral work. like the foundation and the screen association, also Deepika has taken Hindi Film to the outside world, not in acting or loud mouthing nationalism and hatred for outsiders or against every man on the planet nor other things related to what India sees as popularity but in the fact that it is a large industry and they have a voice, a poised elegant voice, a modulated logical and positive voice looking to work towards positive outcomes, all packaged, in a beautiful classic Indian face and lovely compact body, (to the western eye-she is simply gorgeous). About your question, however much one dislikes her off screen personality, there's no point in denying that among the currently active lot of actresses, Deepika is the only one who has a decent combination of looks + somewhat decent acting skills + screen presence + popularity. So it's no wonder that she is being signed up for projects. Actually the opposite would have been surprising.

Hits and popularity don't always go together. Jacqueline has many hits but didnt get anywhere. Also Deepika only did two movies in these four years. Cant judge just by two films.
