The fact that he took two years of his life to make an exact copy of his film Arjun Reddy (which itself was heavily inspired from several films such as Flight) shows that he is not a very creative man.

The only reason Arjun Reddy/Kabir Singh was successful is because of its unabashed toxic masculinity and blatant misogyny. These aspects, which are repressed among many people, were glorified and presented in a glamorous manner, leading to its immediate acceptance.

YES, to every word you wrote. Arjun Reddy/Kabir Singh doesn't even have a decent storyline, and the way the lead characters separate and reunite is just lame. These movies are a rage mainly because they appeal to those who have a fetish for the bad boy-good girl trope.

Rather than focussing on plot and characters, Vanga seems more interested in finding ways of wasting screentime to glamorize shitty behaviour of abusive, toxic men. Its like: "Dekho dekho! Here is this scene of our hero doing THIS cool, edgy sh*t."..."Now take another scene!... Now our hero is so mad/depressed he doing THAT cool, edgy sh*t!!!"... And repeat.

^^^That's the entirety of Kabir Singh for me honestly. 🥱

I don't see this film Animal, being any different. And obviously audience will lap it up like they did for AR/KS.

Throw in an angsty soundtrack and you have a blockbuster in the making 👏

But that cool, edgy sh*t is what made Kabir Singh a blockbuster. It's rare to find a director who has that command over edginess and for making an absolute train-wreck look appealing. Vanga displayed a rare understanding of the medium and its potential when he made Shahid do all the weird, abusive, toxic stuff. The writing was also used to lull us into an acceptance of the toxic stuff.

Compare Vanga to Anurag Kashyap who also tries edgy stuff but fails misreably in tapping the pulse of the audience.

He has literally made just one film, and he did a complete scene to scene remake of it in bollywood.

Its way too early to predict if he is a good film maker, I personally did not like kabir Singh or arjun reddy as films, I feel the movies were carried by the lead actors performances and the fact that the character was a normal guy who was able to do so many terrible things and he got away with it, i guess people were intrigued by that

In animal its more of typical setting of a gangster film, people expect gangsters to be dark and for there to be guns and violence

He is already a huge star director. Kabir Singh was mania when it released. Audience is excited to watch the next film of the Kabir Singh director. That's why everyone is going gaga over Animal. Obviously Ranbir is a cherry on the cake. And this is just the announcement and people are going crazy over it. Just imagine the craze when the teaser, trailer, songs and eventually the film gonna come out. It's going to create history at the box office and Ranbir is going to be the top superstar of Bollywood after this film.

The guy has already achieved a cult following with Arjun Reddy and Kabir Singh. Let's just see if he is able to live upto the hype.

How many Korean movies have you watched?! This isn’t a slight, it’s a genuine question, because I am curious to understand how do you come to that comparison?

Frankly he has made ONE movie, which has exposed his inner demons and his articulation towards questioning of his characterization has always resulted in him being defensive, almost like he is afraid to use the words sadist, misogynistic and masochist. He likes saying dark edgy ... 🙄

There are many people who impress in interviews, but eventually it’s the work that matters - his ONE movie cannot put him in a star category. Ranbir has agreed to work with him becos his previous movie was a hit.

I think the question is highly misplaced
