Veronica behaved like some abla naari who has been wronged, when she hadn't. She knew very well that theirs was not a serious relationship. But she threw a hissy fit when Gautam chose to fell in love with someone else. Like, what the eff? If anything, she was a hypocritical self-righteous moron.

Again, it was about what the movie said. Women who cover up and the ones who actually are timid and dependent re the ones who are marriageable. The ones who don't - though they proved their worth as a decent human as opposed to scumbags - are only for proving their studliness.

Meera's attraction for Saif was precisely in her covering up and her submissiveness. He says so in the movie.😆

The only decent person in that cast was Veronica. What did the other 2 do for anyone else?

That I agree with. Falling in love is not a crime but there is an unspoken girl code or friendship code which is important. You never break it. It is wrong to be in love with anyone ur friend is involved with at any level. Forget us common folks, even celebrities get thrashed for doing something like that.

Here's a point of the girl code from Google:

Ex’s, siblings and close friends are off limits unless you get permission. This is a well-known rule, yet girls still break it all the time. If you wouldn’t want your girlfriend to do something to you, then don’t do it to them.

https://bvtack.com/31324/arts-life/the-six-most-important-girl-code-rules/

Love means everything to me too, but I could never do that to any of my friends. Coz at the end of the day, I imagine Gautam would break Meera's heart at some point and Veronica would be there for her. He kissed her once and declared he was in love, no real connection before and after.

I had watched the movie ages ago, but, Meera didn’t really do anything as far as I can remember. They were just being friends and fell in love.

It takes incredible amount of strength in character to leave someone you are in love with for a friend. It’s not just about how much importance one may give to love or friendship, heartbreak in love is a terrible thing.

I think you are using homely in the gharelu sense, but it actually means plain.

That's not the point here. You said Saif was wrong to ditch Veronica for Meera. I'm asking, what is morally wrong in that? Yes, he preferred shy women over outgoing ones, bit it's not that Meera was some meek munchkin. She was often rude and condescending towards him.

Anyways, my point is, Gautam didn't do anything morally wrong by falling for another woman. He was not Veronica's boyfriend.

Also, Veronica was a decent person, but severely flawed, self-centered and hypocritical.

lol. Ok. She took in a homeless girl and financially supported her. Allowed the loser Gautum to move in.

While Meera was quite content living off Veronica and then going to live off her ex when she wanted to avoid Saif.

Also, Saif didn't say he preferred shy girls. He preferred to bed westernized chicks but preferred to wed abla naari type. He is the hypocrite there, not Veronica. Actually, not a hypocrite, just a scumbag.

And no, I didn't say Saif was wrong to ditch Veronica for Meera. I said the problem is what the movie said/. The whole dialogue about covered women and Dimple's lectures on how women should behave.

An exemplary human who took in people in need was judged by her clothes and the number of lovers. While the woman who did absolutely nothing except live off someone else was lauded as epitome of good womankind because what? She was covered up? Because she didn't have lovers? Is that how the worth of a person is measured?

Not to be offensive, but usually nobody wants to marry people who are seen as too promiscuous. It's not just women, although yes women are judged more for it. I have a friend, a former roommate who slept with a f**kboy and she likes him a lot too, but she says she wouldn't marry him since he will likely cheat on her after marriage and she cannot handle that.

It doesn't matter how good a human being you are, nobody wants to marry a potential adulterer even if he/she's the best goddamn person in the whole universe. 😆

I called Veronica self-centered because she was being a crybaby and a drama queen, acting like a abla naari who got 'explaiiited' by the bad man, when that was clearly not the case. 🤣

Come to think of it, Meera was the real noble soul here, giving up on the man she loved in an instant, going away just for the sake of her friend. It isn't easy to do that--sacrifice your love for your friend--especially when you were in a bad marriage and starved of love. And no, she found a job and wasn't living off Veronica. Veronica, on the other hand, didn't give a fcuk about where Meera went, her safety et al when she found out that she had dared to love Gautam. Veronica's mahaan-ness was all dikhawa---the moment her own interests were threatened, she showed her true colors. 🤪She had to admit defeat in the end because Gautam just wouldn't love her.

Finally you got there.😆

That's precisely what Saif was in it. Promiscuous and hypocritical. Bedding the modern chicks. Which he would likely continue after wedding the abla naari. 😆

Therefore, Meera was a fool. Also, not wanting to stand on her own 2 feet.

And no, Veronica wasn't shown as the promiscuous one. She was shown as having had prior relationships and sexy clothes. There is a difference. But she was judged as a bad person for it.

Veronica was still the one who gave a stranger a home and supported her until she got a job when Meera even objected to having someone they knew move in. Veronica had a fit later to be sure, but Gautam was still in a relationship with her when he and roommate apparently fell in love. I'd say Veronica was entitled to be angry.😆. If anyone claims they wouldn't be under the same situation, they're lying. She was also the one who later gave the cheating twosome the green light.

In the end, Veronica dodged a bullet. Gautam types do the exact same after marriage that they did before. And yeah, saasu maa will advice Meera on the duty of an ideal wife to put up with it.😆

God have pity on any woman who imagines she'll reform the rake. That kind of thing happens only in the movies.

Anyway, this debate is going around in circles now. Ciao.

Bold: The only problem is, they WEREN'T in a relationship. It was FWB, not the serious kind. The whole point about Veronica's hypocrisy lies therein. And yes, she as indeed promiscuous just like Gautam was.
