Did Priyanka ever reach No. 1 position?

She has a pretty good filmography to her credit and so many hits. She was pitched against Kareena back in the day. While Kareena being a nepo kid got huge backing from the industry, PC being an outsider made her mark.

There was a very brief period in history where Priyanka Chopra very strongly rocked the throne on which Kareena Kapoor had managed to sit on after her own 7-year long climb. That brief period was right at the end of 2008 and early 2009, post-Fashion.

Priyanka to me represents the best mix of stardom and acting. Yet, the No. 1 position as a stamp eluded her Why is that?

Also, as a disclaimer I don't think best actresses are number 1. I mean that the numbering system is based on number of hits, and that's all it is really. So those who reach number 1 are the so called the actors/actresses who dominate, yes, because they are most successful with their films/have the highest hit ratio. So in that case, Katrina was above Priyanka and Kareena but something reminds me of the "ACT" in "ACTRESSES" which was missing.

Kareena's success is restricted to films. She comes from a film family and has always carried an air of self assurance around her. She got her pick of films and by sheer luck struck gold with some of her choices.

Priyanka is from Jamshedpur and for a very long she struggled with the way she looks. She was very self conscious. And for someone like that to go ahead and win Miss World pageant is itself a big achievement. Coming to films, she honed her skills and improved on them. She wasn't a natural at acting. Many hits and misses later she stood at the peak. Later, when everyone predicted an end to her career she bounced back with Quantico.

I personally love stories of people who fall and rise again. Priyanka is one such person. She's an inspiration to many. Kareena maybe a good actress but her appeal ends in the movie theatre.

Sorry for the long post, but OT I think Kareena can keep the No.1 tag or for that matter anybody can keep the tag. Priyanka is much more than that.

Exactly, I was going to ask minty to define "ranking" but she already did. Even Kareena accepted the point about Priyanka.

Priyanka is actually inspiring

Never. She's always been the female Ajay Devgn of BW. Ek hit film ke saath saath 5 flops deti thi, lekin log notice nahin karte the. Even in 2008 the year people say she was number one for Dostana and Fashion, she gave disasters like Drona, Love Story 2020, God Tussi Great Ho, Chamku.

Nope ! Katrina’s popularity exploded around that time and overshadowed the hype she got from Dostana/Fashion .

Honestly we need to reconsider this whole number 1 barometer for actresses. If it's strictly popularity then it has very little to do with talent or hard work. Just appear in some 4-5 trash big films, do absolutely nothing and boom you are called No1. Which the likes Katrina/kareena/etc are the biggest examples of, how are glorified cameos/supp roles a testament of your popularity, when their solos films flop left right ans center.

Her Mary Kom did reasonable well compared to other female centric films

On which throne was Kareena sitting on for 7 years? Take a look at her filmography in 2000s and she hardly has a clean Hit but still kept on getting films because nepotism. She was just like Sonam. A dumb bimbo who was only in news for her antics and WTF statements. Her PR has made it look like she was once a number one actress when its nothing but a myth.

Then from 3 Idiots she started to do flowerpot roles in Khan films which were ready made big Hits. But by that time Katrina was the undisputed no one actress.

Kareena was never a top actress and neither was Priyanka. But they were still bigger than Alia who is current no one. So it doesn't mean much.

She never reached no. 1, she only managed to keep herself relevant among the public. Not like Kareena Kapoor, who put her photographs on social media every now and then, but by attempting and doing various things that keep her relevant in public.
