Flashback to 2007: The craze when Deepika-Sonam debuted!

I don't know how many of you remember this but back in 2007, the hype around Deepika-Sonam's debuts was next-level crazy. Half of my class was rooting for Deepika, the other half Sonam. There was an organic interest in both the debutantes which wasn't just a manifestation of media hype. That makes me nostalgic because I don't see that happening nowadays.

Nowadays, sub-par nepotistic products are launched with great fanfare but they lack looks, aura, acting talent and nearly everything! The only one whose debut I am excited for is Manushi because I think she has that star aura and charisma.

Who were you rooting for in 2007 - Sonam or Deepika?

didn't Sonam have more press than Deepika? And then post Om Shanti Om, it was reversed?

Well, since Sonam is a nepo product, it's possible she had more press. But as far as I remember, there was a lot of excitement at Deepika's debut also. She did that song with Himesh a year back which became a rage and she was already in the public eye. The interest for both was organic, it wasn't manufactured. Even Sonam had that aura which made people curious about her. The stories of her weight loss transformation were doing the round.

I remember both of their debuts. Ranbir, Sonam, Deepika and SRK visited my university campus.

People went crazy and our classes got cancelled. Ranbir was so handsome.☺️That day was amazing.

Fan groups in my college got into fight. Security increased ten folds. Still my teenage days were amazing.

Yeah...those were the days. I am getting nostalgic just remembering!😊

I wasn't a teenager though but my early 20's were also amazing.

I agree. Teens and twenties are gold. Then you are suddenly a silver few years later.

I was looking forward to Sonam Kapoor , She seems so promising , she did some good movies but then she turned SooooDumb

Yes! There was genuine interest in both of them back in 2007. I was rooting for Sonam. Was mesmerized by her looks, her long hair and old-world charm during her debut

I found deepika very pretty too, but was never as smitten with her as I was with Sonam back in 2007!
