cities too...There are so many educated people pining and whining for sons, it is sad and unbelievable, the lasting effects of years of patriarchal attitudes. A lot is changing but still a lot needs to change. Hopefully, our next generation will reap the benefits of our fight for equal rights in everything.

There is a lot of misogyny in which the case has been handled. First she was a murderer , then it was abetment to suicide, then it was money-laundering, then she siphoned money to her account, then she was part of a drug cartel , and finally arrested for procuring pot for her lover.

It seems that large parts of the media and of the public have no better concerns than to revel in the public hounding of a young woman and her family.

But this has now lowered and extended further into a degrading national spectacle, with people reveling in the public torture of a young woman and her family, instead of granting them the presumption of innocence until not only charged but then proven guilty by the working of the courts.

There, in Rhea Chakraborty's place, but for accidents of fortune, might the daughter or niece of those who delight in this degradation or excuse it--and there also might be their own families.

How does Drug Peddling n consumption becomes discussion of Patriarchy. She herself admitted to these charges and given written statement as she wasn't pressurized by authorities.

Infact she stated in court around 80% people in Bollywood take drugs. She was arrested under these charges , How does Gender play any role is this ? Her Brother is also arrested for same, is he women ? This seems to some kind of Joke, retorting to this victim card. Funniest - she was accusing how 4 male police offices were interrogating her , Infact she was asked to pick place of her choice for questioning, she choose DRDO office instead of her house, special women officers flew for interrogation, yet she is accusing investigating authorities, Full proof security given to her yet she intentionally didn't use them on specific day to garn sympathy . I have said this in another thread. The people talking about patriarchy are referring to political parties making Rhea the scapegoat. Because they cannot find any charge to stick on her so they use this procuring drugs charge to get her in.

Bear in mind, she didn't have drugs on her nor did her brother. Their arrest was made based on the whatsapp chat and their confession of buying drugs for Sushant. That's it.

This is the only proof they have, CBI and ED found nothing else to charge her with.

Only NCB has almost completed their investigation , hence charges and these are the ones that RHEA Admitted herself. She was part of Drug Syndicate. Is this illegal as per law ? YES .

Moreover her brother n stooges are also arrested . So where does Patriarchy come in this ? This is consequence of illegal activity , regardless of gender, they are jailed. BTW these charges are not from family. In course of investigation, NCB found more evidence n She got caught.CBI n ED are still working , she will get multiple cases soon coming up. Have Patience , don't make assumption on investigation that is under way !

@Bold - I repeat, Rhea n Showik admitted consumption n procuring of drugs ,so did their stooges, I would ask why there are not whatsapp chats of Sushant procuring drugs himself EVER? Not in 2019 , not in 2018 , even in 2017 ?? That's what every criminal would say ,I did this crime for this n that.

What does Chats from 2017 indicate, Sushant was not even near Rhea then, SO for Whom was Miss Rhea procuring drugs for ? 😈

I agree with you about the selective outrage. I don't expect them to openly rebel against Sanjay Dutt/ Salman Khan though, too powerful & dangerous.

Honestly I don't expect much from celebs at all but at this point I am just happy that few of them are supporting her after the media trial that she underwent. And I don't see any benefit in it for them either, Rhea is a nobody and supporting her is like inviting wrath upon themselves.

So yeah they might certainly be hypocritical in their outrages, but they aren't in the wrong this time

Everyone involved has told the court that their confession was coerced or obtained by force. They have all retracted their confession, including Rhea. So I can't really say anything about that. At this point, it looks like the authorities are desperate to catch a fish and with Rhea, they found their big fish.

All of their chats are from the time she was with SSR. Don't know where you read that one but in her charge sheet, everything about her case was related to Sushant. There was nothing else, no other incrimination that indicated the people involved committed the same offense before Sushant came into their lives.

I am wondering the same thing about Sushant. His phone's chats were not leaked. Maybe because it was not submitted to ED. All of those who got leaked were submitted to ED for investigation. I don't think Sushant's devices were there since he was not being investigated, obviously.
