I think she's a brilliant actress, possibly our best. And I always admired her boldness. She always gave me the impression of a talented underdog who would not keep silent about injustice.
When the Hrithik-Kangana controversy came out in 2017, I genuinely believed her without even knowing the whole story. After all, married heroes having affairs with heroines and wanting to keep them "hush hush" is hardly an impossible leap for one's imagination. Even when Kangana broke the ice on the subject of nepotism, I lauded her!
But now, she's absolutely hijacked poor SSR's death and made it her own agenda in order to settle scores with everyone who wronged her in the past or those she perceives as a threat to her position today (Deepika, Taapsee, Alia, etc). I saw her interview with Arnab, and honestly? I found it really concerning. While she made some excellent points (Bollywood award shows are an absolute joke!), hadn't she come to talk in support of SSR? Instead, all I heard was "Me, me, me and my achievements." Yes, Kangana, I do respect you for everything you've struggled to win with your talent. But this is not the time. It's not about you. She's been playing the public like a Pied Piper. It's so blatantly obvious. And it got me wondering just how true were all her claims prior to this? Got me digging into interviews by her or regarding her over the last decade. So many people have come out and spoken about their ill treatment by her hands. A pattern of lies has emerged:
- Regarding Sushant: Kangana didn't even know SSR, by her own admission. I went over her Twitter and Instagram, not one post or tweet supporting SSR before his death, while the very celebrities she's attacking today poured their adulation and support for SSR on every one of his trailers and movie releases during the course of his life. Kangana says Chhichore was so much better than Gully Boy - but she says it now. AFTER Sushant's death. Well, why didn't you let SSR know that when he was alive then, Kangana? Not one tweet or post by you or your team when the movie released. Not one interview or article praising his talent. Instead, there's a 2019 interview of yours where you claimed Gully Boy was your favorite performance of the year! Hypocrite much?
- Regarding Hrithik: I never kept up with the news, so I never found out just how their spat ended. The story simply disappeared. Turns out, so many of her lies were exposed. There's clear evidence of her & her sister photoshopping a picture to give the impression Hrithik & Kangana had a private relationship (which was exposed when his wife and colleagues began sharing the original picture). She claimed Hrithik proposed to her in Paris, but the police checked his passport and he was never even in France during those dates. The Cyber Cell demanded both Hrithik and Kangana's devices. Hrithik promptly surrendered his computers and phones and was found to have not even a digital footprint in relation with the email address Kangana claims he messaged her through. Kangana, on the other hand, never gave any of her devices to the police. In fact, she claimed to the Cyber Cell that just the day before, she'd dropped both her laptop and phone in water - throughly ruining them - so she threw them away... Is any of this the behavior of an innocent person?
- Regarding Nepotism: If Kangana is really against nepotism and wants to support outsiders, why hasn't she done so in the past? Look at Anushka Sharma. She's an A list actress and producer who opened her own production company that has been producing projects like Bulbbul, Paatal Lok, etc that actually support newcomers. On the other hand, so many people - Mishti, Apurva Asrani, Krish - all outsider actors, directors, and writers. They have no Godfathers in the industry, have worked alongside Kangana on different projects and have actually - publicly! - complained over the years about how she used her power/ connections to take away their credit/ work in order to make herself appear more accomplished - the very thing Kangana is now claiming to fight against. What a joke!
- Her History of Violence: The allegation of violence is a common theme in her past. Adhyayan Suman claims it (took the poor boy years to recover from her emotional abuse - watch his interview. I went in there expecting to laugh at his attempt to vilify his famous ex, but was shocked by his authenticity). Aditya Pancholi has spoken about it too (though I don't blame her, he confessed to knocking her around too. He's a vile man). That's 2 of her exes. Let's say, they're both "men of power," and we must take their testimonies with a grain of salt. What about her driver in 2008 then? She beat up the poor chap - in front of witnesses! - just because he didn't know the way. Is he a man of power out to get her too?
- Bollywood & Drugs: She's now wanting to clean Bollywood of drugs. Claims they are depraved. So, has she been as pure as the Ganga? Adhyayan Suman himself claimed, in 2016, she wanted him to do coke with her. And he always saw her do hashish. Her fans dismiss him as a "silly ex," but can't they believe her? On her own Instagram page, prior to SSR's death, she released a clip claiming she'd been a drug addict... Like, come on.
- Manikarnika: Filmmaker Ketan Mehta filed a lawsuit against Kangana saying she stole Manikarnika's story from him after he pitched it to her. He claims she wanted to co-direct it and they parted ways. Later on, Kangana who had started shooting Manikarnika, came on to Aap Ki Adalaat and dismissed his allegations, claiming the idea of her being greedy about co-directing the movie was absurd, and she'd never direct it. Well, cut to 2018, and what do we have here: Kangana is the director. And Krish - the actual director - does an interview (one of the most genuine interviews I've ever seen, mind you. The man's anguish is palpable) of his absolute bewilderment in how Kangana cheated him and stole his work.
- Her Peers: Lastly, every co-actor she's worked with or signed a project with - Shahid, Prabhas, Sonu Sood, Irfan Khan - they all have nothing good to say about her or, in other cases, she about them. I'm not quoting blind items, but actual interviews by either them or her. So... everybody is out to get only her, is it?
If someone looks at her past, they can immediately spot the pattern of lies. Every time she lands herself in a new controversy, ironically, the lies she's spilled to patch up an old scandal are exposed. But the public has a short memory and they forget. If one or two people came out against her, we could imagine she's a woman wronged. They are the villains, not her. But when scores and scores of people have come out during the course of her career and presented evidence of her manipulation of the media against them - who is the villain? There's only one common denominator: Kangana.
