Havent we messaged friends or people we know or ex managers for job opportunities?
Its okay, if you dont like her. But this is nasty...she is a 26 year old Girl who just is working towards building a career. Also its amazing how this nepotism debate does not effect Varun Dhawan or any other male stars as it does to Alia. There is so much inbuilt misogyny, and sheep mentality in our country."

I fully agree with every word. Yes Alia is privileged and incredibly fortunate that Karan took to her in such a big way and gave her amazing opportunities but that's not any fault of her own. Any actor would say yes to such amazing offers. It's also not her fault that her peers in the industry think she's the greatest actress currently, that's their opinion but doesn't have to affect your opinion. Aren't you watching films for your own enjoyment so why does it matter if a group of people think she's the best?
People also keep saying that she stole projects or blocked other actresses but where is the proof? Only concrete example I see being brought up is Dear Zindagi where she admitted that she came on board after another actress was involved...BUT we don't know the details. What if that actress dropped out or the director felt she wasn't right anymore? I feel people are turning their speculations into facts and wrongly spreading misinformation. As far as I know, no one has ever complained of any wrongdoings by her within the industry. If she was as bad as some people now think, wouldn't people who've interacted with her be the first to say that?
The misogyny is also very apparent. Take Sadak 2 for example. Sanjay and ARK are also products of nepotism. In fact, Sanjay has a criminal record and a very shady terrorist past which is easily far far worse than anything people are claiming Alia has done yet I see comments on social media praising him or feeling sad for him. The moralities in question seem to apply only to a certain set of people and gender.
That being said, there is absolutely a toxic and unprofessional culture in the industry but nepotism is a deeply systemic problem due to our society in general. There is nothing to gain from targetting a few individuals, they will just be replaced by others who will make all the same moves. Change will only come when the issues are addressed at every level in the system. Instead of positivity and mass support towards outsiders especially newcomers, there is a horrifying cycle of abuse and toxicity going on....aren't we just perpetuating the bullying that SSR went through?
