Award function lit by stars

The 13th Annual Screen Awards for excellence in cinema were held in Mumbai recently. The who's who of Bollywood were present. However, the Bachchans were conspicuously absent, and so were the Roshans. The show began with a performance by Bipasha Basu who sizzled to the tunes of her item number Beedi jalayle from Omkara, that had everyone cheering.

Most of the awards were bagged by the three hit films of the year — Rang De Basanti, Lage Raho Munnabhai and Omkara. Kareena Kapoor enthralled the audience when she danced to the tune of Yeh mera dil from Don. However, the finale of the performance was splendid when Helen joined her on stage.
But Bollywood stars were not the only prominent people at the award function. Chief minister Vilasrao Deshmukh and information and broadcasting minister Priyaranjan Dasmunshi were the chief guests for the event. The award function continued till late night, and was full of glitz, glamour, performances and applause. After all, it was lit up by ample star shine.
