Do you think OTT platforms hold out hope for 'flop actors'?

On one hand, I see OTT platforms as giving a second lease of life for actors who have been rejected by theatre audiences, like Dino Moreo and Abhishek Bachchan, for example. But the point is, only a minuscule section of the population watches or can afford to watch these shows. So, will it really affect their popularity in the long run? And can the star system actually collapse or be flattened by such trivialities?

Yes - I do think in the long run OTT platforms will be the catalyst that flattens the star system. Once the Khans are out of the picture, this will become much more evident. They will continue to push the content landscape and eventually, just like in Hollywood, cinema will become a holiday/popcorn/commercial movie vehicle.

It definitely holds out hope for aged actresses, like your favorite Deepika.

TV and streaming both want movie actors to come and do a project for them because it makes them look more prestigious if they do. It's the same in the US. The Emmys go gaga when a movie actor deigns to do a streaming/TV vehicle and immediately throw undeserved awards at them. They are supremely insecure and worship movie stars.

The movie actors are the ones ruining OTT to be honest. The best projects I've seen are the ones that focused on the script and content and usually had small name actors in them. Watch Panchayat or Scam 1992. They're ten times better than Abhishek's show or the crap movies like Sadak 2 and Gulabo Sitabo that have premiered on OTT.

If OTT becomes mainstream, these people will not have any chance.

We should not forget most watched movie in Netflix is Extraction featuring Chris Hemsworth.

Most watched movie in Hotstar India, before the success of Dil Bechara was Houseful 4 and Baaghi 3.

So the thing is, as long as big guys don't jump into OTT, it is okay. But it is going to be tough for these artists, if everyone starts coming to OTT, because at the end of the day, people watch what is trending. And big stars have the resources to control the trending.

It definitely has given bigger scope for actors and other artists. Especially series
