It's true mental illness need not always stem from external factors but most of the time the conditions/socio economic political factors aggravate if there is an underlying issue...

Let me try to share my personal experience..

...I have been battling anxiety/depression/suicidal thoughts since years..already had anxiety issues right from my childhood but.my depression stemmed from constant bullying in school coz people found mee too much arrogant (which was my anxiety actually)bookish/philosophical(my luck I was stuck in a school of shallow people.. Learnt how to deal with it later when I found like minded people with whom. I could connect with ..) ..

So yes, when I read all those stories about SSR ..it actually triggered my depression which I had controlled since an year..so...I can truly empathize what he must be battling..And since he was a public figure just imagine the mental trauma he might have been through....

It's not simple..not always linear..And if u are highly sensitive and an over thinker it can be a nightmare...

I believe he was too sensitive... Too caring... A true dreamer caught in the wrong world..

very true dirty politics is played in every field, but if we have a job that is playing dirty politics, we quit. If we are in university that is playing dirty politics, we dropped out of it. But these actors I never knew they had a tough life but they can’t escape dirty politics at work place because they are working there forever.

Why can’t we talk about things that CAUSE mental turmoil?

Not to discredit what you’re saying, but it is anecdotal. And I could personally give you the opposite anecdote. I suffered a “major depressive episode” while in university studying at my first choice school in a premedical program. Medicine was what I’d wanted to do since I was a child, I was doing well and had good friends. I had no financial issues, or anything of the sort. I didn’t understand why I suffered this episode, which lasted several months, or why it abated. But I was and still am a very private, type A person, so I’m often in my own head and generating stress for myself. So after it abated, to a point where I could function, I went to get psychological help. It wasn’t until 2 years later that I learned about the neurobiological theory of depression. Basically it’s an evidence based theory that people can be biologically predisposed to depression. It’s caused by an abnormality in the HPA axis, that controls the release of cortisol (an increase in which can cause anxiety) and the release of monoamines (serotonin and norepinephrine) an under activity of which cause depressive symptoms. That’s why there’s often a high comorbidity between anxiety and depression. That’s when I started asking in my own family, and realized that my grandpa had a brother who committed suicide in his 20s (plus my grandpa and grandma are first cousins), so it’s possible that the genetic predisposition runs in my family.

All that to say, it’s entirely possible that Sushant Singh Rajput was predisposed to depression. Maybe some stressor triggered it, but that could have been a normal stressor for a person who didn’t have that predisposition, had coping strategies, or social supports.

So because unemployment or poor work prospects can cause mental turmoil, all people should be guaranteed work? Or because a girl breaking up with a guy, or vice versa, can cause mental turmoil, no one should end a romantic relationship? Like, we don’t live in a perfect world, we will all have to face some stressors at some point in time. Suicide is not a normal reaction to facing mental turmoil, suicide is what happens when someone who is predisposed to a certain mental state is not able to find the coping strategies or help to deal with that turmoil. That’s why the important thing is to deal with mental health care.

Plus, let’s all remember that Kangana Ranaut, KRK and whoever else, are saying that this is what Sushant faced with zero proof. Look into the background of the people speaking up. Kangana has had a problem with the people she dubbed responsible for nepotism for years, and she’s now targeting them again. Shekar Kapur is bringing up Paani, which he reportedly worked on for years, that was shelved in 2015. It was supposed to have massive VFX, etc. and be a big budget film, while in 2015 Sushant was a complete newcomer to films. As far as I can tell, he never did another film with Sushant after that. So is he actually speaking the truth, or going after the company that shelved his passion project? One thing I’ve learned over the years, always look to the source of information and never believe someone too much.
