EVEN though some of the best cinema is now on streamers, several stars and producers are fighting the shift to online releases. Among these is a topliner whose latest release has been halted due to the lockdown. He has been offered a whopping Rs 250 crore by the streamer, but he has refused. He’s a larger-than-life star he says, not fit for a screen that fits in the palm of your hand.

Jokes apart, he probably released those Corona songs on YT to test the waters... Mere wahiyaatpan ko kitne views milte hai check kar leta hoon. Wahiyatpan failed on YT so he is not selling his film to OTT.

I think he means he's gotten too big now to be viewed on smartphones and all that. Because I couldn't watch his YT vids on phone in landscape mode, I had to turn on the portrait mode but even that he couldnt fit! 🤪He's right, he fits better on the big screen now!!!

250 crore? That is 500 cr in box office terms. Aren't most of his films struggling to cross 200-250 crores? So on what basis does it make sense?

And how on earth can these streaming giants recover that money?

Amazon Prime has 1 crore susbcribers. Each subscription costs INR 1000 annually for subscription. That means Prime's revenue itself is 1000 crore, and they are willing to shell out 25% of their annual earnings for one film? It's hard for me to believe that.

Netflix India toh had a bad year with drive and serial killer, amazon prime will never take THAT kind of risk, Zee is slowly garnering audience and doubt is ready for such a legendary movie.
