And?

The channels he mentioned weren't simply capitalizing, they are actually doing good work. That's how entrepreneurship works. You see a need and capitalize, be the need emotional or material. There is absolutely nothing wrong with earning a living that way, especially when you're actually providing decent service. That's exactly what the apparently enraged critic is also doing except the need he saw was different. Actually, not even THAT different. The problem faced by Indian audience looking for reviews on YT is that the industry-accepted reviewers all seem to be part of some clique or paid for. The advantage Western Youtubers have is that in addition to a need for somewhat impartial reviews, Indians do show a need for validation from white people.

Anmol's peeve appeared to be with the extra advantage. ie, with fellow Indians. So he should've taken it up with them. The fact that he attacked the channels instead showed his rage stemmed mostly from jealousy. Also, a bit of hypocrisy involved there: I do remember a video where he discussed which film should've gone to the Oscars. Isn't that also seeking white validation? Or could it be that he, like the rest of India, is sick of seeing the film industry buy/bribe their way into the awards here?

i watch a range of reaction videos from goras, korean, non goras etc. i do not seek any validation from any of them, its nothing of that.

Instead i am more interested to see how do they react to various cultural aspects of our country. Whether its padmavati jauhar scenes, prabhudeva's ace dancing skills, different festivals , govinda's silly dancing, BigB's superstardom years, beautiful indian actresses.

Its very interesting to see how each of these nationalities react to those aspects of bolly cinema. And trust me , its not only indians watching these reaction videos.

Seeking Oscar's isnt exactly "white validation". Yes Oscars are very politicized nowadays but they are still the apex honour of the silver screens. Nobody can deny that.

On the other hand, these reviewers do nothing except for sit on a couch and make faces at what they see, while dropping one or two appeasing comments.

At any rate, even if they are genuine, its embarrassing to watch hundreds of desis fawn upon them and beg them to watch everything related to India (not just Bollywood).

Who else requests (read: begs) some random person on YouTube to review everything on their film industry or country? Only Indians do this, no point arguing otherwise.

Underlined: Then who else watches them?

I dont think all are popular. There are some. You can't say all of them are popular. Mostly girls prefer to create reaction videos. I have seen boys doing it as well but its not about girl vs boy thingy. What i am saying is that It should be illegal to attract audience using your beautiful face. That's unfair cause you know that men will be men unless you fall in sakht launda category.

2nd para: if that were the problem, then he'd have named the channels which were doing exactly what you said. Instead, he named the channels which ARE actually doing a lot more and hence, doing better than him.

3rd para: 2nd hand embarrassment?😆 He (and everyone else) has the option not to watch or read comments. It's a free country.

But many people find Jaby and the others fake as well. How do we know that they are 'doing much more'? Whay does a reaction Youtuber do actually? "Oh it looks cool, I've seen that actor before....is it the same director?" And drop in a few Hollywood comparisons along the way.

Of course, everyone has the freedom to do anything. But then Anmol also has the freedom to criticize it. If people have a right to be stupid, then others have a right to call out that stupidity. 😆

Simply watching the videos is still okay, but flooding them with maniacal requests and cooing like they are the cutest newborn babies, IS cringeworthy. It makes us look like beggars who were forever deprived of a food called 'self-esteem'.

personally I love foreign reaction channels because sharing a bit of my culture with others gives me joy. Even at a very young age I used to force my white friend to sit through movies with me and till this day it continues. Today I forced my bechara man to sit through yaadein with me. The reaction channels obviously do it for the money because Indian viewers=numbers. People do much worse things for money so if they are just watching bollywood trailers, falsly praising it and getting a slice of culture I won't fight it. I am sure a lot of their popularity has to do with white validation but many bollywood reaction channels are not white. Jaby and Achara are not white. There are many black and korean bollywood reaction channels as well.

And others have the right to call Anmol petty and jealous for what he did😆. He WASN'T calling out the audience. He was calling out channels which, going by subscriber count/views are doing better than his.

@Bold. Credit viewers with intelligence. An ability seriously lacking in Bollywood filmmaker and apparently in YouTubers/IFers.
