Perception plays a part here. People always get pleasure seeing their own actors/directors getting validation from people from a better industry (the perception) from elite industry. That's why the most watched videos on Film Companion or Masand's YT channel are of regional celebs'. Those YT channels have also tasted blood so they keep on inviting regional celebs.

Reminds me of YT videos titled 'foreigner eats idli sambhar' or foreigner blah blah that gets this foreigner millions of views from Indians. He knows that sitting at home eating or making something that remotely resembles a pizza wouldn't get him even 1000 views.

People do much worse things for money so if they are just watching bollywood trailers, falsly praising it and getting a slice of culture I won't fight it. I am sure a lot of their popularity has to do with white validation but many bollywood reaction channels are not white. Jaby and Achara are not white. There are many black and korean bollywood reaction channels as well.

Becauaw it’s fun to see how foreigners who don’t know much about the culture, etc or the actors world react to BW movies/music? And it’s clearly not about “validation from whites” as there are many similar reaction videos from non white people as well.

And also someone was saying no other nationality does this, that’s just not true. I have seen people doing reaction videos to K Pop songs as well... I feel like sometimes desis just need any excuse to bash other Desis!

They are famous coz most Indians have loads of free data n time!! And they crave for validation from firangs.
