" Chokher Bali" : A Timeless Classic Revisited

Watched Chokher Bali again. OMG! It is so beautiful vintage classic film. Aishwarya was marvelous in the film. Raima was also superb. This film won National Award for Best regional film and Aishwarya won Bengali Best Actress award for the film.

The story revolves around Binodini (Aishwarya) who is a widow and sexually frustrated beautiful woman who got into adultery with a married man who is husband of her best friend. Binodini also fell for another man. Basically Binodini is the negative role but with sympathy.

I really like the story ..I watched choker Bali series and Radhika apte and other actors are so fabulous in their roles. I am still searching for this movie.

I prefer the Radhika Apte version.

The movie is beautiful.I loved the series too.And Radhika Apte was fab in the series.She was so sensuously attractive..she nailed every single scene.❤️

I love the complexity of the relationship dynamics in the film, someone should make a modern/dark take on this. I love films with messed up complex relationships.

Binodini was truly super-layered and complex, a rare for female characters everywhere. Tagore was truly an amazing storyteller.

You can compare Chokher Bali with Bajirao Mastani to an extent.

Mastani is the 'beautiful evil' woman' in Bajirao & Kashi's relationship. In Chokher Bali, Binodini is the 'beautiful evil woman' who destroyed her best friend Ashalata's marital life by indulging in adultery with Ashalata's husband Mahin.

How beautiful Aishwarya looked in the film.

Oh truly a beautiful film. One of those films that I feel does justice to Aishwarya's beauty. The simplicity of it to be precise.

Someone I know very closely worked on this film and always speaks about what a delight it was.
