Make it make sense.

that’s a total of 5 years before her 2013 streak. your getting worked up over 1-2 years. Either way no one forced her in those films, she earned them. Took her way more time than half a year to get a film where the director actually wanted her for her talent and work and not because eh someone told them to take her.

For a film like barfi, Priyanka had to wait 7-8 years to prove that she can act in such a film which took time. If it was alia, kjo would just tell someone to take her in it from the get go.
that’s the significance in the journey differences between the actresses you are trying to compare...

No point comparing both.. unless we can pit the same genre movies of both against each other.

Only then we can compare their performances.

Alia did Dulhaniya series which is romcom, but Taapsee I dont remember doing a proper romantic comedy.

Taapsee did action film like Naam Shabana, did action stunts by herself.. Alia didnt do that genre

etc etc.

so we cant just say, one is better than other, but I do feel both lack something and have their limitations.

Taapsee was brilliant in Manmarziyan, but I cant imagine Aalia in a pathakha character like that.. she might come across as a tantrum throwing teenager I feel.

Alia.. I like her more in urban kind of characters like K&S, Dear Zindagi..

Kalank kind of roles.. I dont think both can carry off that period film genre..

Both are equal for me talentwise.. so now coming to their journey then, Alia does have unfair advantage.. which does color my perspective, so that takes Taapsee higher for me.

Mehnat toh dono hi kar rahe hai..just bcoz Aalia's sched is chocoblock, we cant say the others arent working hard as much.. She just doesnt want to let go of such amazing opportunities, so that it falls in someone else's lap I feel.

My point was about access to good scripts! Many have said Alia is more versatile. I believe that is because she has the opportunity to show her versatility due to her access to good scripts. I do believe Tapsee can do something completely out of the box or different from her other roles. But the number of scripts she has access to some degree hinders her.

Let’s not forget the initial struggles of an outsider. Vidya has explained how she had to do 30 different auditions for Parineeta alone. Let’s not forget the rejections she faced before that. Did Alia ever have to go through that?

Also Meghna Gulzaar did say Deepika does more prep. Alia just needs explanations of scenes and what is expected from her as an actress and is ready to shoot. She is really spontaneous. It could just be due to natural talent. She is more talented then Deepika. But in Deepika’s head Chapak was a really good script she wanted to do full justice to.

As much as I don’t like the fact that she gets everything on a platter, it’s still Alia for me any day.

I still feel Tapsee has her limitations.

I think both of them have limitations, acting wise both need to improve.. But tapasee have improved little bit but need to improve a lot, in tappad she was Ok as both the maid and lawyer are much better actress,even though fil revolved around her..Alia also same she was good in Raazi, but Vicky is much better than her especially in the end her breakdown could have better and in kalank she was bad a few minutes of sonakshi better than her..

That’s not hard work to me. She is hardworking in that she is driven to do her best. But she is not hardworking in the sense of getting anything on merit until she has had her foot in the door with the audience.
I don’t think her hard work can be hyped up compared to actresses even less well off.
Any priveleged actress in her position given opportunities would take advantage of them, she is not doing anything that deserves an applause on my side atleast

@Blue..yes thats how the world works..privilaged will try to take advantage of their previlage unless the one is extremely selfless n ideal..its nothing new.

@Green

But you people are saying she doesnt have any merit to be a bollywood heroine.. And when thats her passion what is she supposed to do..leave her passion and try in another field n lead an unsatisfied life..She chose to take advantage of her privileges like any normal selfish human being.

@Yellow

Who is even giving her credit, leave aside hyping up..She is 24*7 criticised here left right n centre (and rightfully so) n i dont usually come to defend her..but its just the sentence 'she doesnt know what hardwork is' is what made me react because, say whatever you want about her but the girl is working her ass off since her debut.

@Red

No..i am not sure about that..we have so many examples of these star kids not doing a thing n living off their parents money even in their 40s, latest example being Sunaina Roshan.

And when you yourself is saying any given person in her position would take advantage of it, then why so much hatred for Alia..

One more thing i want to ask..when other directors favors their muse its because they see something in them..why the same logic doesnt apply to Alia..Even KJo is casting her because he sees something in her..may be her telent/passion/dedication or something else..but surely he is seeing something in her thats why he is investing on her.

I think you are misconstruing what I am saying. I never denied her being hardworking. On a comparison basis, I said that she didnt have to work as hard as someone like taapsee to get where she is today. Her access to the position she is in today was much easier to aquire and required less work than it would have for majority in the industry. because she really didnt have to work as hard in comparison to many actresses to get opportunities and chances..because unlike for them.. they have been handed to her very easily and even some sadly blatantly lobbied for..which is you ask me overdoes it and makes the concept of self-respect on her part/or (producer/mentors part) questionable. Despite this, I am positive she does works hard to excel in her craft. I never denied that. And a big reason for her success is due to her dedication towards her work and giving her heart and soul in her priveleges which has translated into some level of talent enough for the audience to enjoy watching her.

I would choose Tapsee's movies for the only reason because i haven't seen much of her movies except badla, pink, naam Shabana, chasme baddur etc .

For alia I have seen all her movies except shandar and I don't intend to watch it too.. so yes I would choose Tapsee's.

Exactly. Its all because she has had the opportunity to show what she has been able to is the reason why is well recieved in more generes.

Not only her lack of struggle but the major assistance she has had makes her journey very different than actresses we have seen reaching the top. Even kareena did not have that type of backing.

I dont think the backing/support she has recieved is comparable to any actresses ever, if you ask me.
